You can Connect ur shit com and Laptop to the Same Network... by one Cable (Depends How far u want it apart) But it will depend if you want ur shit com to have 24/7 inet or just... Temp... so Here we go

Set one... have the Laptop... Some where.. and a Lan Cable from the Laptop to the old computer... then set up your net work.. that the wireless connection from router to laptop..  Will feed Internet through the Laptop and then through the cable into the Computer ... (Laptop must be on) So yeah... It should work.. ive done it once... or twice... With my mate.. we got it working

Yeah, or buy a wifi adapter and connect it to the computer
