About Emergency Medical Services (E.M.S.)
Emergency Medical Services are an elite group of medical professionals. We deal with the slightest problems such as gashing through your finger all the way to mental health problems and life threatening conditions.
We train our members up to be qualified into different stages, but always trained to save life. The type of response given is depending upon information we receive from the initial information given by the public. We operate across all the states, responding to medical emergencies.
We operate a firm "Only dial 911, if a danger to life is present" policy.
Emergency Medical Services is made up of several ranks, all designed to ensure we ensure everyone gets the right treatment and try to keep ensure they are kept out of hospital; if possible to do so. We do this using the state of art technology available to us, especially when bringing people back to life.
E.M.S. Rank Structure
E.M.S. Dispatcher -
Our Dispatchers are people who answer your 911 calls. They are trained to handle calls in a calm and professional mannor. While on the phone, their job is to establish where the help is needed, what is the emergency at the location and details of the patient. In certain emergencies, they will provide the with instructions to carry out while an emergency ambulance is being arranged by them to make its way to where the help is needed.
E.M.S. Ambulance Trainee's -
Our Ambulance Trainee's are the apprentices of the medical profession. They are learning the ropes of what it takes. They are mainly paired with one of our Technician's, Paramedic or Clinical Team Leader to assist where needed.
E.M.S. Technicians -
Our Ambulance Technicians have been through our Trainee stage and are trained to a good standard of different conditions. They are bound by our clinical guidelines only to administer basic drugs (if a civilian is in a cardiac arrest); should they need to administer drugs they are not authorised to, they will summon a paramedic or obtain permission from the Shift Supervisor.
E.M.S. Paramedic -
Our paramedics are extensively experienced personnel who have undergone huge amounts of training to handle a lot of medical issues. They will handle anything from bringing a baby into the world to using agressive treatment methods to handle life threatening allergies that people have. They are generically sent out to life threatening calls over the less non-life threatening calls because they are able to provide better treatment over Technicians.
E.M.S. Captain -
Our Captains have the same role as Paramedics. The difference in rank is E.M.S. Captain is a commanding member of staff, who may be the "Shift Supervisor" or "Clinical Team Leader" on call should any issues arise internally. Captains work closely with the Chief of Medical Direction for E.M.S. to ensure we are progressing, meeting response times and implement changes.
E.M.S. Chief -
Our Chiefs are the Operating Manager of a specific state we provide our service to. They are in charge of all paperwork for their state, investigate internal enquires relating to a patients care, expand staff, change policies according to what the constitution allows and much more work. Along side of this, they also work in the field as described with the other members of staff.
E.M.S. Commissioner -
The Commissioner is the head of staff, who represents the E.M.S. Agency at the global level looking after public relations, reviewing and consulting on different states to ensure they are meeting the highest standards they can. They may not have extensive medical knowledge but rather have excellent skills in handling administration, staff and reforms within EMS itself.
