Keeping things optional, will make people avoid doing it. For example if your teacher says that a math test is optional, then the majority or everyone wont do it. The same thing as we had back when people said like "You can't force me to roleplay" when it was so and say "optional". That logic is never going to work.

If the majority don't want to do it, why implement it?
