Hello everyone.
You know, the last while, actually since I've gotten back to Argonath, and I have been Roleplaying as a cop. It seems that everyone I pull over, complains and moans about abuse in /p. It has cut down since I've become an actual Officer for SAPD, though It still exists.
Now, I can understand you do that, because there are some abusing cops, though that is no reason to stereotype every cop and say that they abuse.
I want to show you some ways of good roleplay, and bad roleplay when doing blah blah, and if it abuses, and if it dosen't.
Just to help differentiate the two, and to help stop the moaning.
Alright, in this scenario, I will be pulling someone over for speeding.
** Car speeds past my post at 30mph over the speedlimit.
** Hayden flips his lights on and shouts over the megaphone for the vehicle to pull to the side of the road.
** The car pulls over and then Hayden shouts for the driver to turn the vehicle off
** The car is turned off, and Hayden steps out and up to the car
** Haydeb taps on the glass with his nighstick
Hayden: Sir, do know why I pulled you over?
Civ: No sir
** Hayden shoots the cars tires out for no reason and jacks the guy from the car
Hayden: Speeding. Now, get out of the car, your going to jail.
Civ: what!? why!?
** Civ is suspected by officer Hayden for: Speeding, attempted murder, wreckless driving, failing to co-operate
Civ: /p abuse!
That is blatant abuse. Because civilians cannot be suspected for speeding, only ticketed. And the officer slapped on false crimes.
Now, I hope you all see where Hayden was wrong there.
Let's try another Scenario.
Same as before, I'll pull the guy over for speeding.
** Car speeds past my post at 30mph over the speedlimit.
** Hayden flips his lights on and shouts over the megaphone for the vehicle to pull to the side of the road.
** The car pulls over and then Hayden shouts for the driver to turn the vehicle off
** The car is turned off, and Hayden steps out and up to the car
** Hayden taps on the glass with his nighstick
Hayden: Sir, do know why I pulled you over?
Civ: No sir, you got no reason to pull me over asshole.
Hayden: Excuse me? What was that?
Civ: You heard me!
Hayden: Boy you better watch who your talking to like that, before you get set in your place.
Civ: Right. And what are you gonna do?
** Hayden laughs
Hayden: Shut your mouth boy before you find your ass in prison for attempted manslaughter and Verbal Assault.
Civ: But i didn't do that!
Hayden: Now, give me your license and registration. And you would be surprised how many people around here 'disappear'.
** Hayden walks back to the cruiser with the mans information and runs it through the MDC
** Computer: No tickets or warrants issued.
** Hayden walks back to the mans car and hands him his information back
Hayden: And you, slow down, or next time its your ass. Understand?
Civ: .. yes..
Hayden: Also. Your Taillight is out.
Civ: What? no its not.
** Hayden walks over to the back of the car and slams his Nightstick against the taillight
Hayden: Now it is. Get it fixed.
Now, that was no abuse, at all, even though Hayden threatened him with false crimes and jail time for it. Though that was because the civillian smart-mouthed the guy. But did Hayden give the guy a ticket, or any jail time?
Nope, only a warning, and a broken Tail-light.
Now, we will try another scenario, with a civillian that is 100% compliant. (not complaint, Compliant, which means, they comply)
** Car speeds past my post at 30mph over the speedlimit.
** Hayden flips his lights on and shouts over the megaphone for the vehicle to pull to the side of the road.
** The car pulls over and then Hayden shouts for the driver to turn the vehicle off
** The car is turned off, and Hayden steps out and up to the car
** Hayden taps on the glass with his nighstick
Hayden: Sir, do know why I pulled you over?
Civ: No sir.
Hayden: Do you know how fast you were going back there?
Civ: No sir
Hayden: 96 in an 80 zone.
Civ: Oh I'm very sorry officer, I was just in a bit of a hurry, I completely forgot about that.
Hayden: Heh. License and Registration please.
** The Civilian reaches over into the glovebox and pulls his information out and hands it to the officer
Hayden: Stay here.
** Hayden walks back to the cruiser with the mans information and runs it through the MDC
** Computer: No tickets or warrants issued.
** Hayden walks back to the mans car and hands him his information back
Hayden: Well look, just slow down next time, and be wary of the speedlimits, thats how accidents happen around here.
Civ: Again, sorry about the speeding and yes I will next time.
Hayden: Alright, well you can get back to whatever you were doing. Have a nice day!
Now see, how the last civilian didn't smart mouth the cop, and just complied to the cops orders, nothing happend to the civillain, except he got a warning.
No Jail time, no beating, nothing.
I hope you understand somewhat now what is abuse, and what is RP. There are lots of scenarios other than this, though these are some of my personal experiences.
So everyone, stop moaning and complaining when cops pull you over (and no I don't mean just ARPD. I mean all cops)
Because 7/10 times, we will only warn you and let you go.
