I've created this topic to tell you a little story.
Once there was an Empire Earth fan who was patiently waiting for Empire Earth III. He though the developers couldn't possibly screw up as they made his favourite RTS games Empire Earth I and II. He was wrong.
That fan is me. I'm glad I didn't bother buying that piece of shit. I mean, HOW could they mess up SO BAD? I played it for 7 MINUTES and I already got bored... I played Empire Earth I for 10 HOURS once with 4 friends....
Bash this game as much as you want, Community.
I really hope that they will make IV like Empire Earth I with better graphics. That's all I want. I don't want another piece of shit.
In EE1 there were 14 epochs (15 with the expansion). Basically you went through history, starting in prehistorical age and ending in Nano age (Space age in the expansion),
EE2 was the same thing. You start in the beginning and end in the future as you go through 15 epochs. There was no space age in 2 so no space combat there (

)
In EE3.... I don't remember and I am sure as hell not planning on searching the specifics up again. There were
5 epochs. Yes,
five.
You had the basic resources in EE1 and 2: Food, Stone, Wood and Gold. EE2 added special resources: Tin, Iron, Saltpetre, Oil and Uranium. It was awesome.
There are 2 resources in EE3. I think it was money and materials. Horrible. You gained them by assing around and doing nothing. Seriously.
The graphics in 1 was crap. What more do you expect from a 2001 game anyway? The main focus was on the gameplay. EE2 added some graphical eyecandy and added some new things (you researched tehnologies with special tehnology points which you got when there were people dicking around in an university or a temple). The campaigns were OK but the best thing was the multiplayer. I legally bought both of them. God, I remember blasting my friend's gathering place to smithereens with nukes and airstrikes in EE1. He was like OMGWTF and started making nukes of his own. Thank god I set up a good anti-nuke and anti-aa defence.
The gameplay and graphics were crap in EE3. The people just looked like they were retarded. Acted like them too. They took gameplay away from EE3. Just plain bullcrap right there. Thank you Mad Doc.
My favorite way of attacking in EE1 and 2 was airstrikes. Got to love it when the opponent doesn't have a proper anti-aa defence set up. Just nuke their base and kill the builders with tactical bombers and you've won. To make things even more one-sided just send in a shitload of tanks.
I suck at the earlier epoch battles and I'm not really good an admiral. A strong point of mine is stealth. It's just sweet when you take out the opponent's barracks or airport when they least expect it. A good strategy is to plant spies everywhere and sabotage their buildings when you're about to attack. It takes them out for a small while but it's enough to weaken them severely.
I also like to build a failsafe: I build a tiny base with 3-4 buildings where I stack about 20-30 men away from my main base and in a place where it's difficult to spot, preferably on a small island. When my main base is under attack by a horde of enemies, I blow them all up with nukes (it's bollocks when they bring mobile anti-nuke trucks with them, though) so they think that they've eliminated a guy and don't have to be afraid of them anymore. When I'm the last opponent they'll focus on finding my hiding men (I like to hide a few builders around the map so I can attempt to rebuild my base should the need arise or just keep their attention. I usually choose the green color so I'm a bit harder to find) and won't produce any more men so I'll only have to worry about their defence, usually taken out with a few men or an airstrike. I even had a retard once who destroyed his own base just for fun when he thought I had only 1 marine left (I told him that and he bought it :P) so he was like OMGWTFBBQ when a small army crushed his remaining military.
