Are Mod and Admin the same?

I have a small question.... is an administrator the same as a moderator?
In the new's talking about signing up to be a moderator, i was so excited, I was literally shitting myself. But when I got to the application form, it said Adminstrator application.

Do they mean mod as admin?

Moderators are first on trial as trial moderators, then if they pass their trial period they are promoted to full admins if the management think they are trustable to have the rights of a full admin.
