He sighed, smelling up the concoction of engine fuel, oil and gunpowder.
Pushing open the door, the dull gray walls stared at him, surrounding him as he walked on and on,
following the appointed coloured line, eventually leading him up to a study of sorts.
With grim walls and towering bookcases he looked around until the only other person in the room called his name
"Cadet Riiken?"
He turned around furiously and saluted in an attempt not to fail the first impression.
"Sir, yes sir!"
-"Good, I've read the necessary records... Fine this, fine that... Honourable discharge?..."
Riiken wasn't relaxed in talking through the events of the passed, but with effort managed to keep his cool, nodding
and confirming every fact stated.
"That's what I wanted to hear... With this kind of past, we might work something out... Report to the sergeant, it'll
be up to him wether or not you have what it takes"
Riiken could remember every detail of that day, the last day of one life, the first in another.
Each time he pulled the ignition, every one mission he'd relieve the events of that day in a fraction of a second.
Sometimes he pondered, did he make the right choice? And every time he landed he'd take hold of his service weapon
and consider his deeds. What he did was helping to save lives, to continuously maintain order and peace in the
region.
True on one side, but he never felt guilty that the one with the biggest wallet was the one that decided how, when
and where this was done.
The Blackwater Organization had swallowed up his life. The shack that was his chambers was his house, the men he
served with his family.
The guns his toys, the helicopter he flew in his pride and joy, the men he trained and transported his sons and his
navigator the best friend he could wish for. For Riiken it was the right choice, now what about you?
