How can I downgrade Directx 11.0 to 9.0? I need it to run GTA IV

I have everything up-to-date on my laptop in order to run GTA IV. But when I launch the game, it crashes and says that I need a video card update or I need to reinstall Directx. My video card is up to date, but when I looked that the version of my DirectX, it said: Version 11.0   So can someone please help me?


FYI, my laptop is a $1250 USD HP G71-347CL notebook

Ummm.. yeah so whats the problem? lol. Why would you want to downgrade your dx. your video card doesnt support dx 11 or something? or what :)

every dx is compatible with older versions, meaning dx 11 can run dx 7,8.9,10 and 11 apps just dl dx from microsoft site, if problem persists, try seting compatibility mode
