Hi Kitsune,
Not a problem that I often come across, but the distortion could be one of several reasons which I will try to solve for you!
The first and most obvious
Do you have hyperthreading (Intel Processors)
The reason I ask this is because when you play a game that does not support more than processor (there are plenty) core, it sounds as if the game is crashing. If you are experiencing this on more than one game, then this is most probably the reason.
The Answer?
You have to disable the feature (HyperThreading) In the bios, when the computer starts up. If you are unable to find it, there are a few guides around on Youtube & Google that should be able to help!
Alright Ready for the next one?
Ever thought your sound card drivers might be a miss?
If its onboard sound you have, which in most cases it is (If you dont know take it that you have onboard sound), it could be that you need your sound card drivers updating.
Download a program called SPECCY by Piriform. Its free and trusted and is able to find your motherboard version & model which you will need to download the correct driver from. If you know it already GREAT!
If you have tried both options and you are still stuck then I have no idea!
Happy Gaming!
