Cable Issues - Internet Connection

So latwly i have had lag issues on team speak and in game at peak hours. Im running on WiFi which only get me 2-3 bars since im far from the router. I have a cable laid connecting the router and my laptop but the laptop will not detect the cable connection. It recongises something is plugged in, but it wont connect to the internet. The cable works fine when connected to my laptop.

Any ideas?

What kind of cable is it? USB/Ethernet/other?

If it is a cross-cable (meant to connect two computers) it will not work.

Ethernet, And i tested it with my desktop PC and it works fine. Its just the laptop.

remove the port from hardware, and restart the laptop. Driver will be re-installed and should work..
if not, try to find driver updates.

I will try this now.

EDIT: This did nothing, however i disabled my WiFi adapter and then enabled only the LAN adapter and now it works. The WiFi adapter must have been interfering with it.
