What could be the cause of these anomalies?

I'm wondering what the cause of these anomalies found in my Media player image below could be. The white blocks do not appear immediately and there is no set amount of time until they appear. These white blocks do not appear in any other program whatsoever. Admittedly i have been running like this for a few months now so i may be taking a silly risk. I have already found that is is not a graphics card issue as they can still appear in the Media player with it removed. My next step may be to try another hard drive. Ah and my temperatures appear to be fine.

Also I have recently started having another issue where everything USB will cease working but the rest of the system remains running. This also happens whenever it pleases.

Has anyone experienced things like this before?

Could of been some virus which damaged the files of WMP, anyways, I'd advise you get 'GOM Player', easier and better (at codecs at least), or try upgrading or re-downloading/re-installing WMP by Microsoft [dot] com!

Reinstall Windows media player

Start
Control Panel
Programs and Features
Turn Windows Features on or off

Media Features
   + Windows Media Player

Uninstall then reinstall using this.

Started using an alternative hard drive and after hours of usage neither of the problems i mentioned above have occurred as both usually do multiple times which currently leads me to believe it to be an hard drive issue. I will boot up windows on the other drive later on and try what you both have mentioned however.

Actually as of 19:54 this still occurs "I have recently started having another issue where everything USB will cease working but the rest of the system remains running. This also happens whenever it pleases." What is causing the USB issue is beyond me.

But as i said the graphical anomalies within media player seem to no longer appear due to using an alternative hard drive. Which leads me to believe the hard drive was more at fault rather than software.

If any replacement, I'd suggest Kantaris, The best media player ever made. Aka VLC on steroids :D

And Ted, tried Ccleaner and Defragmenting the HDD?

Sounds like imminent mainboard faliye, seems like the main bus is acting up. Try to clean it by removing dust, be careful not to touch condensators or bend anything.

I think the problem is that you're using Windows Media Player.

Its time to grow up guys and stop spreading shit daily.

Windows has visual bugs like this sometimes. You can get it in any program, especially if your computer is dusty and/or overheating. Sometimes memory leaks, or leaving your computer on too long without restarting it can lead to these graphical issues. In fact, Windows XP itself had many visual bugs relating to the system tray and taskbar that Microsoft was never able to debug, so when Windows Vista came out, they rewrote everything from scratch, displaying it using a different method. When Windows 7 came out, they pushed it even farther by completely changing the way it displays on the screen, although to the user nothing has changed besides the visible GUI design.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just keep your system clean as Gandalf mentioned, and make sure it's not getting too hot. Sometimes un-maximizing the window and dragging it around the screen before re-maximizing it works as a temporary solution too.

I can assure you it being me everything is incredibly clean inside :)

I have this too which I've never noticed before. Which suggests to me it is a motherboard issue as you mentioned Gandalf.

SuperIO Chip=Winbond W83627DHG-P
WARNING: bad Winbond($5CA3,$C1) identify (W83627DHG-P,W83667HG)
W83627DHG-P (ID=$C1) found (using SuperIO) on ISA at $290

So it seems in the past unbeknownst to me i may have fried something to some extent. I'm not going to spend money on it as I've had enough so if it starts smoking or as an extra bonus explodes then so be it.

If it's working fine, I wouldn't worry too much about that then. It looks like that may be your Northbridge, judging by the generic Intel-style model code after "identify".
One thing I would recommend checking, though, is the large cylinder-shaped capacitors on the motherboard. The tops of them should be flat and look normal. If any of them look like they are about to burst, or the top is bulging outward, I would take it to an electronics repair shop immediately to get the capacitor(s) replaced before it fully breaks and fries the board. Most of the time they outlive the motherboards themselves, so it's not common to have to replace them, but once in a while it happens to users.

So then the issue could lie with the processor? As it is one from the Sandy bridge line and i know those have the Northbridge within the processor itself.

Uhh...I've never heard of the Northbridge being in the processor before, so I can't really comment there. Usually the Northbridge is a separate chip that is attached to the motherboard permanently...normally square and black in color with many, many connections around all four edges of it.
