Update the home page

For those of us that actually do bother going to the page or are too lazy to type out the URL for the forum in-game, the home page could do with a much-needed update, for several reasons. First, it's just an eyesore. The combination of stock images, bi-linear gradients

Secondly, the software running it (Joomla!) has not been updated in a long time -- in three years, actually, looking at the copyright banner at the bottom. If anyone actually does find a way in, this could probably pose to be a security issue in the future; if not, use of extremely outdated software and design that can be annoying to navigate and manage.

Lastly, the pages themselves are outdated. MTA:SA is completely missing, along with any references to Argonath Radio. The VC:MP commands page still uses the old 1.1 command convention (!911, !send) -- we're on 1.9 and developing 2.0 right now. IV:MP has no sections for commands or online status. The links at the bottom call the Argonath Wiki "Wikipedia" (), the downloads page no longer exists, and the visitor log near the bottom left of the page has nothing. Above that is something for j7Linx which makes no sense to me.


So with that, here are three options that I could see fixing/replacing the old home page:

1. Update Joomla and its content
Update Joomla! to 2.5 (which is the latest version at the moment), update the themes, and update all of the components. Remove useless or redundant pages and update the pages that are left.

2. Remove home page, redirect to forum
Self-explanatory.

3. Remove home page, install portal on forum as replacement
SimplePortal and TinyPortal seem to be two worthy forum portals that could easily replace the home page, and would integrate directly into the forum and its theme, making the entire site look seamless and allow for re-theming of the forum and site in the future.

Please please please please. It's in a pretty much unusable state right now... Update it by RS5 or so.
