People seem to forget there's a thing called "Events Log". Valuable info lies in there.

Play a game, wait for it to freeze/hang, and look at the time, and memorize it. After you turn the laptop back on, press Start and type "event". In the results you'll see "event viewer". Open it, and then collapse "Windows Logs", then click on System.

You'll see a bunch of events that are sorted by time. If you were quick about restarting the laptop you won't have a hard time finding what we're looking for. Scroll down till you reach the time of the freeze/hang. If it's serious (and it should be), you should find an event with a high warning level (red sign).

Read what it says and copy-paste it here. It might give us some information on what may be going on with your laptop.

Tip: Download CoreTemp, and install/launch it. When your laptop freezes (if you're not in a full screen game), check your CPU's temperature.

The previous system shutdown at 11:53:15 on ‎28/‎10/‎2013 was unexpected

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.  The bugcheck was: 0x00000116 (0xfffffa800c9824e0, 0xfffff8800fc7053c, 0xffffffffc000009a, 0x0000000000000004). A dump was saved in: C:\windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 102813-30373-01.

The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

The speed of processor 7 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 71 seconds since the last report.

The speed of processor 5 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 71 seconds since the last report.

The first one is a total "no shit, sherlock" thing that we could tell to the PC. It just tells you that the PC got shut down in abnormal means.

The second and third, though... uhh... do you have your laptop set on power saving mode?

Also, don't forget to do this:

Tip: Download CoreTemp, and install/launch it. When your laptop freezes (if you're not in a full screen game), check your CPU's temperature.

Hello KHM! I will advice you re-install the window, it will definitely solve your problem.

PS : If you say that there is some important data in your PC, just take it in the USB, and re-install the windows.

I will advice yo to go some nearby computer shop, and get your hard disk checked.

I think, as you are syaing that the windows is not able to pick more then 10 application at one time, you might be having some problem with your HARDDRIVE/HARDDISK.

Just do one thing, try to update your drivers including Chipset, GPU.

One more thing, if you have already re-install your windows, don't try to do it again, or it will harm your hard disk. And remember to do the thing as Ragdoll as, it will be really usefull.

I will do that asap since I am very busy right now. And no it's not on power saving mode.

At Kelvin: The problem is that I formated it recently.

Guys.. THIS ^ is not always the right thing to do. If we re-install Windows everytime we get into a pickle we won't know what the problems we have actually are.

Even the hard disk check isn't necessary since, judging by the error message, it's software slowing down the processor.

Khm, what motherboard do you have?

Bad advice often turns out to be more harmful than no advice to begin with.
Sure formatting and re-installing may solve it for now, and then what if it occurs again? Re-install?

You need to find out what's causing it, whether it's all of your adult material you are hiding away, unnecessary applications wasting resources and causing havoc or a hardware fault.

Exactly my point. And the mere fact that this has happened after a format tells me it could be the software that comes with the motherboard, even if it's a laptop.
