You can't blame your PC crashing / freezing on Windows 7. My win7 has been stable for the past 3 years without a single fucking crash unless I was specifically searching for a way to crash it. Considering my overclocks it's a miracle my PC hasn't crashed.

As for Windows 8, I just bought a laptop for my mom as a xmas present and my god I hate that thing.

Getting Win7 to comfortable, useable state takes about 5 minutes after installing it, windows 8 I have yet to get that comfortable feeling with unlike I had with both XP and 7.

In any case, after using the win8 for a week or so, I was more than happy to go back to my desktop PC with a win7 where (hint rytuklis) programs start instantly, the OS doesn't crash and my HDD has no clicking sounds.

I think I get what you mean. Every time I've tried out 8 I get annoyed by the whole "app culture", everything's got to be in little applications and 'easy to use' boxes. I really like the design though, and at least you can still sit with the normal desktop.

Interface engagement's a bit odd... again I think trying to modernise all the systems and make them seem less static.
Something you expect more with Apple, but MS are definitely heading down that route.

Will have to see how it goes.

It's a shame that when you convert some documents/files from older versions to Win8 supported ones the formatting and such messes up. Not at all unlike what happens when you use compatibility mode with Win7 and Mac.

I got Windows 8.1 on my laptop and the first thing I'm saying is: It did increase my battery power time for 30 mins. Win7 is heavier then Win8, that cannot be denied.

I do agree however that it is a bit annoying with the menu, neither is Win8.1 really stable on my PC (I got a HP aswell unfortunatly -,-, might be Norton..). For the gaming, I got Windows 7 on my main PC where I got a normal and good Laptop for scripting and mainly school work.

I have been running Windows 8 shortly after it was released until now without an issue, and now Windows 8.1 since it became public.
It's simply Microsoft when some have issues while others have none what so ever.

Dude, my PC is a high-end gaming PC, by HDD clicking sounds It wasnt what I meant, I meant the hard disk light usually flashing a lot when running a program (indicating it's working a lot and a lot of resources are being eaten up). Windows 8.1 is same as Windows 7, you can get rid of the ugly start menu, seriously, i have removed every single default app that came with the thing, installed a "Back to Start menu" few megabytes mod and now i can enjoy a way faster expierence than Windows 7 ever had. And you can bull... us all you want that Windows 7 is running the same or faster than Windows 8, Windows 8 being less resource eating and faster on running programs, shuting down and turning on is proven. No matter how fast your PC is, it will be even faster in Windows 8. Here, take a look

AS you see, I dont need to use the default start menu at all, I've set my windows to boot straight to desktop which is a default option, so I'm using it just like I would use windows 7, the only difference - Windows 8.1 is a lot faster.

Wow so helpful, much win 8 fanboy.

.Net framework 3.5 wasn't optimised for win 8 so my Age of empires somehow got fucked up, so I had to download net framework 3.5 and somehow even .cmd prompt couldn't delete the file AOE2 was installed in.. magic.

So microsoft can burn in hell for creating such an awefull os, it has clearly been made for touchpads and as much as they're trying to get in the industry right now with the PC without a box and the laptopI actually like microsoft. that is also a tablet, they could of just made an OS that was optimised with everything before release, I mean holy shit as soon as you install it you need to sign a deal with the fucking devil, need to log in with a email that binds your soul with the NSA.

I will never support Windows, just the closed code and their shitty attempts at opening app stores makes me hate it more, why can't I see what kind of BS is running in the background because on Linux I'm not using a fourth of the ram I'm using on W8.1, I support open code, I support Steam OS and I need to use windows because of school, tbh I'd rather have a mac.

First question, is your copy of W8 legit?

Secondly, the "sign in with a Microsoft account" is in place so that it can immediately sync your email, contacts, cloud accounts, social media, and everything else associated with your Microsoft account without you touching a thing. Also, you mentioned you support open code and "signing a deal with the devil," yet, you claim you would rather have a mac? Hm, let's not forget about iTunes registration either.

Since I've seen quite few fucked up views about high-end gaming PC, what's yours?

Also I don't know how you can say programs can fire up faster than nearly instantly. When I click something it's open before I can move mouse to the spot that I want to click so speed difference in my case would be highly unnecessary.

And I'm not saying if win8 or win7 is faster, I haven't tested both OS' on same system under same circumstances, all I'm saying is that my win7 is as fast as you can hope your OS to be.

Today I learned; f**ked up windows means you have a bad PC
Let's get this straight, I paid a good sum of money and work.. and bloodselling blood ftw.. for this PC, oh and "High end gaming" means shit, if Windows 8.1 won't work on PCs that are meant for offices (which it was designed for) than it's a shit OS, I have a i7-3770k
Sapphire VaporX 7970 Ghz edition
8gb of 2400mhz ram
2TB Barracuda
126GB SSD
P8 z77-v pro
H100 processor cooler (Very VERY loud)
and it still isn't optimised, it isn't the hardware fault if the software is faulty.

Jaka, you sound like you're speaking out of your arse.

Compatibility on Windows 8 has been very good for me, since a lot of it is the same base as W7 and Vista, even a lot of drivers for the previous operating systems work.

Seems like you're doing something wrong.

All the replies are wrong btw because the smartasses at Microsoft force you(me) to install .net framework 3.5, some times after an update steam stops working, why? because the update isn't yet compatible with Win 8.1

I don't care if it's good for YOU or anyone in this topic, the whole point of having an OS is that it works for every user, you think some grandma will be able to get this shit working? I feel like testing RS5 here.
