[Solved]Port Forwarding to 7777, Help!

Well, I did a few steps, I did Start>Run>cmd, and opened the browser, then i put: http://192.168.1.1 , Then i filled username and password, But I have a problem.

I am on Home Gateway, And I am stuck there, Idk where to port forward to 7777, My router is not like LinkSys, Idk where to go, I am lost. Can someone tell me where i can port forward in Home Gateway?

My Router is a Huawei EchoLife Home Gateway HG510, Well, I am lost in that menu, Can someone help plz, Where in the menu is "Port Forward" thingy?

Help plz! Hayden also tried to help me on MSN And he couldnt.

Gah, had the same problem but i downloaded this port forwarding software and it worked fine till i had to register the stupid thing.... Now i can run it. In other words go to www.portforwarding.com  :conf:

Why do you want to open a server yourself sir? anyway i will help you.

Go to run type cmd, press enter, type ipconfig, press enter, look under Default gateway copy it past it into the browser. By default the ip address should be set to 192.168.1.1.

You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now. By default both the username and password are admin. Click the Ok button to log in to your router.





Open a web browser like internet explorer or Netscape. Enter the ip address of your router in the address bar of your browser. In the picture above the address bar has http://www.google.com in it. Just replace all of that with the ip address of your router. By default the ip address should be set to 192.168.1.1.



You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now. By default both the username and password are admin. Click the Ok button to log in to your router.

Click on the Advanced Setup link

Click on NAT

Click on Virtual Servers

Click on the add button

Enter the information and voila!

Clooak, So i must have a static IP For this? Well, Hayden doesnt have (i guess) static IP and he could do it...

BTW, If i set up a static IP, My default router's IP Will not be dynamic anymore? And i can delete the Static IP Later so i can have Dynamic IP Again? :S

If i can later delete the static IP I setted before and have my Dynamic IP Again, Then i will follow all these steps..

So After i do it, I have static IP Foreva? I cant never return to Dynamic ip? :S

Some basic IP stuff.

1. Do I have static IP ?
No. I think only a very small part of the players has a static IP.

2. Then why does it (not) change ?
With the IP the provider will give a 'lease time'. This is the time the IP will remain reserved for your connection when it is disconnected. Some providers, like BT, have a lease time of 0, this means on every reconnection your IP will change. Other providers have a lease time of 24, 48 or even 256 hours, allowing for a longer disconnection without change of IP. When you IP does not change on a disconnection/reconnection people refer to it as semi-Static.

3. But I see on my PC an IP like 192.168.1.1
With the current IPV4 system, the computers inside a home network have their own IP. For this (not to confuse the computer experts) some special ranges are reserved. 192.168.*.* is the most used for internal IP.

All the computers at home connect to the router, and do so by dynamic (changing) or static (non-changing) IP for the LAN (Local Area Network). The router connects to the internet and gets a WAN (WWW) IP from the provider. The WAN IP is the one that other people see you as.

5. Hey port forwarding...remember ?
Ok the best way to forward is to set your PC to a static LAN IP. Lets say you managed to set it to 192.168.1.2, the router is 192.168.1.1
Now get in to the menu of the router, and find the Port forwarding table (can be called NAT).
Set your IP (192.168.1.2) to have all traffic forwarded for port UDP 7777 through the IP of the router (192.168.1.1).

If you are unsure, search the manual on Google. Most producers have a website where you can download an online manual.

6. Do I need a static IP for my server ?
That depends. If you want to run a server to show your friends your cool scripts or make movies, probably not. They can find you in the master list.
If you want to run a server like Argonath... well you will need more than a home computer.

Gandalf just explained the point i was getting at with alot more words :P 

also....when i change the last digit(s) of your IP to make it static while setting it up, make it a number you will remember.....cos u can lose it real easy, i have 5 diff static IPs on my PC for different USB ports for my router

Problem Solved! And Dave, Its NOT Necessary to set up a static IP To run a server, If you wanna do a server to show scripts, etc, Then static IP is needed, But if you want to run a permanent server, making it a community and make it grow up, Then Static IP is needed, Actually i dont have Dynamic IP, But i guess i will use a static one later.
