Texas Deputies kills a mentally unstable man trying to hurt himself.

This have happens many time, the "trend" has actually even a name called "Suicide by Cop" - Which basically means to provoke the police officer till the officer draws his weapon and shot.

The guy couldn't take his own life, so he took help from the police officer.

Suicide / killing is always tragic, sadly another life was lost that day.

The guy was clearly running towards the deputy with the knife, I'd shoot as well. What's justified is how many times. One bullet to the shoulder should have been enough and now the suspect dies instead.

When your life is on the line no number of rounds is too much. You shoot to stop the treath. You shoot until the treath is stopped. If that takes one shot or twenty shots, well thats irrelevant. A person that is not shot in a critical area can still fight back (for a short period). Not only did the cop ask Micheal to drop the knife 64 times, he also tried to use non lethal tazer multiple times. The cop did what he was trained to do, and when you got adrenaline coursing through your body, and being cornered up like that - the cop was obviously terrified.
