You need a decent, dedicated Anti-Spyware program installed which is up-to-date. Then boot into Safe Mode and run a full system scan.

I would recommend going with one of the free alternatives out there that tend to work even better.

Also, if your anti-malware programs were no longer working, then that would explain your issue right away. You need to make sure that you are preventing the bad software just as much as you are trying to get rid of it once it shows up. The best protection is to stop it before it does its damage.

Can you post the programs you have? This probably came bundled with something you installed recently.

Stop asking me when episode 7 comes out!

Those are a common form of adware, but are usually bundled with other malicious software. I would recommend still doing a full system scan to ensure all of the bad code is gone.

Yes it showed up when it stopped working but was i thinking of something else because it came before when it was working.

Didn't install anything new yet.

Dude don't install anti-virus. You probably downloaded some shit that gives you that ads, also check extensions on your browser.

You really shouldn't be giving your money to Norton. As a former user, I'm glad to have switched. Even Microsoft Security Essentials (free download) is much better. I would also suggest doing a Malwarebytes Scan and getting the WOT browser extension to check a site's reliability. If you want to be extra cautious, get Adblock or get the MVPS Host File Ad List. This blocks advertisements at system level so adverts even outside of your browser won't work (most of the time).

Stop asking me when episode 7 comes out!

Norton is garbage, plenty of spyware and viruses are designed specifically to screw with it.
It's useless and the idea of actually paying for it is pretty laughable, check out some of the free options which are better.
