Hey there guys.

I have fully shifted to Ubuntu after good ten years of being a Windows user and I love it so much and want to stay on it but there is one thing that is tempting me to switch back to Windows - the fact that I need to manage music on my iPhone. What can I use to do that? I don't need much functionality. All I need is to be able to upload music off my computer to my iphone, and, perhaps, movies too. I tried using rhythmbox but even though I press sync, once the sync is done, the music doesnt appear on my iphones music library. Help? I really don't want to get back to Windows .

My iphone is iPhone 4s
IOS: iOS 8

You buy an Android. No proprietary software required. Problem solved.

Unfortunately you might be stuck. There is a handful of applications which can mimic the proprietary hash that Apple uses to secure the music files from being improperly accessed and sync'd. However, unless Apple extends support to Linux you will not have access to their proprietary software which is required to save the files to the iPhone using the valid proprietary hash. Apple also changes this proprietary hash quite frequently, so even if third-party tools gain access they won't be able to maintain it. It would appear this is the problem you are having with the application you found, the proprietary hash they're trying to use is no longer current, thus as a result the music won't be loaded by the iPhone's music software.

You might be able to use a third-party app that plays music via its own independent file storage system. Though knowing how much of a control freak Apple is they probably wouldn't permit such software.

I'm sorry for your luck. Ubuntu is a great operating system and Apple's own ignorance shouldn't force it's users into this situation. I'll keep my eye out in different tech communities for something that may work.

ha
Ha.
HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA

They never will, Apple based their entire OS on Linux and probably won't ever support it.

Idk how Ubuntu works, but if you cant use itunes you have 2 options :

1) Use "AVplayer" on your iphone and install "iFunbox" on your Ubuntu, simply drag and drop )or create Folders inside the AVplayer shared folder which you can access via iFunbox

2) Jailbreak (if you are not on IOS8) your iPhone and purchase/use pirated version of "PwnTunes" you are on IOS8 which you can not jailbreak, sorry

UNIX and Linux are not the same. The original Mac OS was inspired by something called Minix, a form of UNIX. The current installments are based on BSD, also a UNIX distribution.

I don't get why is it that most developers treat Linux users like shit. Perhaps jeallousy due to the fact that Linux is way better than Windows or Mac OS?

Are there any free alternatives to this so called AVplayer? Because that one is paid.

No, it's cause of the problem that many other platforms (such as firefox OS or Windows Phone) face, low market share.

He meant "iTools", which leads to a Chinese website. (I really don't see what religion has to do with this, either). The application he suggested is for Mac OS, and moves/syncs data between multiple Android and iOS devices, which is not what you are looking for.
