"The Taliban stormed a military-run school in northwest Pakistan on Tuesday and gunned down at least 84 people, most of them children, in one of the country's deadliest attacks in recent weeks.
Hours after the attack, the Pakistani military was still exchanging gunfire with the militants inside Peshawar's Army Public School and Degree College.
By 3 p.m. Tuesday, it was unclear how many of the hundreds of students were still inside the school.
The death toll has steadily risen, and officials fear it will climb higher. The number of injured was upwards of 100.
Most of those who died were between the ages of 12 and 16, said Pervez Khattak, chief minister of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where Peshawar is located.
Two of the attackers also died: one blew himself up; the other killed by security forces.
In a telephone call to CNN, the Pakistan Taliban -- Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) -- said six suicide bombers scaled the walls of the school with orders to kill older students about 10 a.m.

My opinion is that this attack is disgusting. Political motivation or any distorted motivation does not justify taking the lives of innocent children.
