Is This A Community Or Not?

The topic title says itself, is this a community or not? Why I am even writing is that I'm quite annoyed to the fact that it seems the communication between the "groups" in the community has started to deteriorate. It feels like the members of the community have been divided in several groups and these groups are segregated from each other. Having small communities of their own.

What I think is essential for a community to be a community is to have communication amongst the members. What have been noticed lately is that there has definitely been lack of communication, why? What's the cause?

One example of this is punishments being issued on the forum by the forum moderation on forum users. If a user has violated a rule/or rules I think at least they deserve to know why. I could mention a few that has been left in the shadows, wondering why. What's demanded in this typical scenario is a brief PM that will start a dialogue between staff and regular users. If this is done it won't create gaps. If I'd get issued a warning or whatever I'd like to know why. Same if I'd get the status "Moderated" on my account. If not, I'd be frustrated, aggravated and irritated. I think many shares the same feelings. One other example could be; I start a new topic, it will contain things that should be pretty normal and nothing to stir up negative things then it gets removed(?). Afterwards there is no one there to answer why it was removed. 

I'll say it's the staff's responsibility by this to start a dialogue and explain why it was removed and what could be done to make it acceptable within the guidelines/rules, some constructive criticism and feedback...

If nothing is done I'm afraid these gaps that segregates us from each other will be bigger and eventually something will go wrong.

But oh well, Admins live in their own little community, a small little bubble. Same applies for us, not wonder why I got so many requests to help out ppl in argonath to create their own servers.

More to add, some people are thinking that they're everything in this world, just ignore you like you're a f**king asshole on the earth making feel guilty about nothing while no shit happened. Not talking about players only, a lot of administrators are doing the same, won't list the names though. Where did the friendship go, isn't it supposed to be a game? Aren't we a community? Jeez...

Pretty much agreed with everything you said. Don't know why the staff acts if they are so superior. Aren't we all supposed to be equal?. I've seen a lot of people receive punishments for just expressing their feelings, like wtf.

There is too much focus on admins, admins shouldn't even be leader of anything. Players should be leader of the FBI, over the SAPD, over the CIA, over the Government (whatever important groups that exists). Admins should rather help the community develop by doing what they do by keeping it run smoothly.

Instead, admins are leader over all the factions, they are greedy and they abandon what they actually should do instead of leading it forward. That's why admins shouldn't be anything more than a rulebreak-investigator and newbie helper.


WHAT ROOM IS LEFT FOR US, THE COMMUNITY? Maybe ARA, but that's the only group with script support run by a player, I think.

If you get warned and there is no reason stated in a private message (may that be by a own written PM or on of the automated systems explaining the reason). If this is not provided I will personally remove the warning.

As for some people there is als some common sense needed. Don't go troll on the forums and then when you get punished go all 'Why the fuck..?'. If you decide to act like an annoying troll then don't come to us crying when someone bites back.

Any issues can be forwarded to my PM (If this is about a specific persons forum attitude, this can also be a forum moderator or a management member).

Most people actually got their governemnt faction before their 'admin status'.
Just because someone is an administrator does not mean they're bad in handling factions.

No, it's not. But a big part. Read what Murt wrote about the communication instead than going all crying about what players actually are saying about you guys.

Don't you all see that the community is falling apart? We are small communities inside a big one, but not bound to the big one. We are not one community, we are many and that's a shame.
