So, considering I have 3 1080p monitors totaling to 5670 x 1080p, to game on them I will need another 970, but here's where it comes down to, the price, I don't want to pay another £300 for a card, what will sit and do nothing, I have never experienced SLI or Xfire, so some help?

Depending on the games you are playing, SLI might not give that good performance if game isn't well optimized for it.
2 970's in SLI will probably be cheaper than a 980 though (check the prices in your region).

I'll look up more info in the morning and post here then.

It's always better to have a single high end GPU in your system than more low/mid end GPUs in SLI/CrossFire because of scaling not being consistent, power draw and the extra heat generated. Unless you already reached the best I wouldn't see a reason to add more.
Still 970s ain't a bad choice, what you need to look into is if your PSU can supply the extra needed power and if your motherboard is actually capable of running SLI configurations.
So, considering I have 3 1080p monitors totaling to 5670 x 1080p,
If you are planning on gaming with all three of them simultaneously then you will be needing more horsepower considering that you're reaching 4K resolution (unless you can be satisfied with ~40-50FPS top on high settings).

Alright thanks man, that's what I thought also.

Well yeah, of-course, I wont be expecting to play games high settings on these three monitors. But I would settle for lower settings of course I cannot stand anything lower the 60fps (inb4 24fps is all the eye can see lolstfu) but yeah, my PSU supports it I upgraded to the 750w, and matched it with the recommended power on the Nvidia site.

750W is plently to run them. You should be fine with medium settings then as that will fulfill the constant 60FPS mark.
The only thing left is to see whether your motherboard supports SLI or not.

2x970 on full load are nearly 180watt, so no power problem.. but I wouldn't go for it.. 2/10 Titles you would play are not optimized for SLI performance, thus games will still play only on one 970... You'd better sale your GPU and buy a x2 version of something, or even save up for a Titan.. it would be better, plus you get no problems with drivers or whatever..

No, not the Titan. Not worth the money.
I'd rather go for 980Ti, which is great value per performance, compared to 980 and Titan X. You get almost Titan X performance at about 350-400$ cheaper, though it is slightly more expensive than 980.

Saying a titan is a better option is lol-worthy.
