The old virus was just for the flu and was designed for a single event before some minor conversion to a full time system. As our needs expanded so did the need for a new system to support more viruses. With /sex returning in RS5.2, so will new viruses and diseases, 5 that are planned so far such as AIDs, Herpes, and more ;D this new system serves as a foundation for these new plans with such ease.
