Clarification about /accent gypsy

Good evening, as it title says I would like to hear the reason for implementing something which is pretty clear meant to be offensive towards romanian players. We all know it. It's really sad to see how smart you must be to determine the difference between romanians and gypsies.

Alright so, the whole "/accent" thing is supposed to improve the quality of roleplay but now you have to tell me how is "/accent gypsy" not offensive when we, daily hear things like this:

It happens very often, seeing a group of romanians across the street and suddenly switching the accent to "gypsy". However implemented this, I don't understand your logic at all. Why use romanian accent instead of gypsy, oh no that could be fucking ridiculous.

I personally have no issue with dumb people calling me a gypsy, I'm mature enough to distinguish differences. Same goes for other romanian people around here so please if you show me someone roleplaying as a gypsy if that's the reason for '" /accent" and not trolling around buying icecream for fucking sakes.

What I don't quite understand is the following; why would someone that is classed in the world as a (young adult) at this point in time take offense to a person talking crap on a game?
Do you also take offense to people calling names in school and need the teacher to end the argument? It is a gaming community after all, take comments with a pinch of salt.

I don't see why people only assume the gypsy accent only relates to Romania given the fact that there are gypsies in the UK and other countries around the world.

   The problem is that it's not about just a nickname, nowadays Romanian means automatically gypsie, and it is very, VERY offensive towards us, since we're totally different from those. I will refrain from racism or stuff like that even though it refers to my and not only my opinion about those we are assimilated with.

   Em, and about the gypsie accent, gypsies are migratory peoples, so they actually learn the accent of the country they are in, and they are spread across the globe. There's no such thing as a Gypsie accent, you can tell probably by the way they look but accent? It's all about the country. That's the problem..

Very. For example, we were three romanians guys infront of LSCH, havin' a talk. Then a guy came, and switched his accent to gypsy and started talking around. Ofcourse we did not get offended at all, because we are not what he is claiming we are, but it's not nice.

And, HQ, /accent is meant to encourage roleplaying...tell me how is calling romanians gypsies encouraging roleplays.

That's why there's a function /report for such cases. And on this kind of matter where other people are offended by others related to their nationality were always seen as a serious case to handle with.

On the other side, you should indeed just ignore such people who are born to troll and bully others. Join the joke and be a part of it. I've been called so many things around for the past year in here and i've been joining the jokes and been having fun. It's way more easier  to handle such things.

   Devin, I don't want to argue, you indeed have a good point, but sometimes it's taken to an extent which crosses the damn limit. For us, Romanians, talking about us as gypsies or comparing them to us is like comparing a contemporary German with a Nazi, and no, I am NOT at all exaggerating, any of us can tell, and severe punishments are taken for this Nazi thingy, I hope same should be taken for this Gypsie thingy aswell, since it's something we are really, REALLY offended of.

For it to class as being racist it would need to be a race to begin with.

A message can only be offensive if the party reading it makes it offensive in their mind, a message online from a stranger holds no merit to even be classed as offensive. Sadly this is the internet and people should really learn to move on and ignore things that "offend" them.
