Guys seriously, this "reputation" idea is brilliant!  :)

I'm not a big fan of the idea. As we may all already know the community is littered with grudges here and there, and we will see Rep-- simply because someone disagrees with someone else's views. It essentially opens the doors for passive shitting.

If someone needs a reputation ranking on the forum to make them feel good they have issues. Anyway I believe teddy added it to see what people would do with it. The results were expected to say the least thus far.

I am all up for social cohesion but this isn't the way. Perhaps the results will not be as you expected, that is unless you (or whoever decided to implement it) intend on seeing the reality of when people see this and just want to give someone a minus point.

You're in essence asking the community to go around and continue to judge each other...

Can not agree more with

But yea, now we will all work to collectively go on team-speak servers and talk shit about people, convalesce but in the meantime encourage down voting of others and up voting of our own, simply to fulfill ego and to delve into those psycho thoughts and generally because we don't like a persons personality rather than what we think of their contributions so and so forth.

If the aim of the social experiment is to see the resurgence of egotism and elitism then sure continue with it...

If this is about democracy or votes of confidence then a simple poll should be made with "I am confident" "I am not confident" in $subject.   This Karma thing is shitty... If we all want to go talk about how nice we think these people are we can go on a gay porn site, if we want to talk how bad things are, we can look at President Trump as a candidate for the US Presidential elections.

Also as I can see I currently have -11 reputation points  I don't mind as I know that the reputation matters not. Argonath RPG is supposed to be a community of no egoism, free from the old ideals of the community (AB?) that caused the starting of Argonath.

I think the best sort of democratic act we should have is a vote of no confidence in whoever put this feature up. (in before I get removed / banned for mentioning such a notion and the Veto holder has to come to say "stop witch-hunting him")

I mean guys, lets all be introverts and the like, be negative. Vote people down. totally the way of life huh :-D Find something to discredit someone and then do this and that instead of being appreciative, positive and willing to share our opinions without fear of oppression etc.

I would have considered taking you seriously had you not lied to me and others multiple times over the years. What I am talking about are the multiple claims of all sorts of medical conditions that affect ones way of life just so you can get attention over and over. You lost my trust sadly.

What about the other side of the cookie, people deliberately going to Monte's profile, totally coincidentally right after the function got added, just to downvote him?  :neutral2:

I've got nothing to say to justify others reasons to up or down vote people. Sure some people probably do misuse the function based on the people and whether they like them or not but it's the Internet, you can't expect everyone to use the functions for completely legitimate reasons.

Or put the function on posts instead of the person.

Anyway, I have no problems with this.

So you willy nilly acted on evidence provided to you? (Countless examples)

If you've trust issues that effect your judgement, perhaps you've got to work on that, but don't condemn me and call me a liar, for I am not one who condones lying. If you were trusted on a bit of information communicated to you in a private medium, you shouldn't use that knowledge in an attack mode / to belittle someone or such. Such act just belittles peoples view on you. Do you think people will appreciate that?

Whilst personally I am not one who thinks we should all begin discussing our medical record in public...

Everyone has illnesses or medical conditions, no sane person would use an illness as a means of gaining attention in ArgonathRPG... that's what Reddit, 4chan, 9gag, a Lithuanian by the name of Mang(which I don't bother with) etc were made for.

Saying that the flashing weather on the gTA:SA server being a cause of Migraines isn't something you should use to judge someone over. The real truth is, if I play on any server and the storm weather comes along, I get an instant migraine and just /q. It's a shame flux does not work over GTA:SA but hey ho. I've a migraine right now actually :( #Pray4Monte.

Sorry that you're unable to determine right from wrong choosing to side with a grudge or something instead. Please feel free to hit the minus reputation button for me!

What about the other side of the cookie, people deliberately going to Monte's profile, totally coincidentally right after the function got added, just to downvote him?  :neutral2:
I don't particularly make it a habit to agree with Salmonella but I question the same :(
Totally not also a plot to defame me :D. Because why not. I'm like sooooo the opposition figure for many whilst I consider myself a part of the problem that is Argonath :D!

Ooh a new slogan!!! Argonath RPG | High School all over again (x5 more judgmental and skeptical)

I've got nothing to say to justify others reasons to up or down vote people. Sure some people probably do misuse the function based on the people and whether they like them or not but it's the Internet, you can't expect everyone to use the functions for completely legitimate reasons.

Which is why I believe the social experiment failed so bad... such a feature has been attempted in the past and removed, Argonath shouldn't be a lab rat! A bit of thought should go into things.

I like the idea. Gives you an insight on the public's perception of certain people around here.

I think this is a good idea. Posts should be judged by the quality of its content, rather than the individual posting it. Maybe you can include stats on the user's profile that would indicate how many posts they have that were rated as quality. Honestly, I think it would be better to just skip including any sort of negative rating, due to the attitude of the community.

If we're going to keep the current reputation system, we should at least require the person rating to include a reason as to why the post was good/bad with a link to the post and the name of the person rating. But then again, the person that was rated would probably just go to the other person's profile and find a reason to give them a negative rating back...

I guess I really just don't like this idea in general, especially given the fact that it's a.. "social experiment."

A social experiment of sorts.
Is it like upvote and downvote of reddit? I end up with -600 karma some times, so I will just shut up for a few weeks.

Remove the function. People will start "whoring" for the upvotes in their posts. Not to menton that this feature is being outright abused, as I woke up to find -4 reputation put in place for no reason.. The fact that even Devin has negative reputation has to mean something.
