Hello,
It may begin to seem that we're adapting MMORPG elements into Argonath, with the addition of promotional bonus system, crafting (in previous releases), skills, and of course the upcoming questing system. I want to make a moment to explain why we're borrowing these elements and how our focus has lightly shifted from pushing interaction with players to engaging players.
We've noticed due to a few reasons we've seen the players drop and at this point we need to push to attract new players. I think the best strategy to do this is to gain interest. That's why I've been thinking about trying something new. That of course as we can see is MMORPG elements in a game without any intention or similarities with an MMORPG. Think of our aim lightly as an open world MMORPG, but don't worry we won't force any of these on to anyone.
In addition to being a new concept to try it's also adding elements that keep existing players busy and engaged. If players are engaged and have things to work for, they will. We will be working to revise our payments (such as lightly un-nerfing meth), interaction systems, as well as finishing systems such as trucking, weapon storage, and a better drug market.
Do not mistake: We are not aiming to move away from the core values of Argonath; more so to build on top of them. We will of course promote interaction such as with our questing system. In many of the quests, think more of them as team missions. A lot of them will pit two teams of players against one another to complete an objective. So while we still do have the concept of quests and missions, we also have the promotion of interactions. Of course, and MMORPG is still an RPG so there will always been that aim for roleplaying at all possible instances.
I will also cite sources of inspiration. The following is a list of games that have inspired some of our current releases and our upcoming releases: Tom Clancy's The Division, APB: Reloaded, Minecraft, and Tera.
We look forward to seeing this transition unfold and we will be relying heavily on your feedback as we continue forward with these progressive updates. We would appreciate support and constructive criticism moving forward.
Regards,
Teddy
