The low risk option is to sell a service that you provide, which having a good education would benefit (though not as general as schools give).

Contracting is fairly lucrative these days, especially in IT. It's a much lower risk strategy to use if you're struggling to raise the capital to build a long term business of your own.

Yes. I learned to make websites and I've earned around 800 euros in a month from making only 3 websites. And no, I didn't learn that in school.

Well said Julio, you need something smaller without significant investment from which you will create a budget for a bigger long-term business.

I agree. But the things we learn in school are 99 percent completely unrelated to the business, people, and market. Learning how to learn for 8 + 4 years (primary + high school) is enough, isn't it?

It doesn't, they always teach you either "perfect competition", fairy tales about Chinese production and its' successful businesses, businesses who failed overnight because they made a huge mistake by "not" looking into financial reports and other bullshit. Come on, let's be realistic - In Europe, especially in Balkan, competition is fucked up because product/service a business provide isn't important, connections are. So, you have to analyze the market, how and why people failed but also how and why they succeeded, is their success really because they have the amazing product or they're in good connection with the government. If you find a hole in the market, make a good business plan and fill it. You can't fail if you're coming up with something unique, problem-solving and useful. With the right price, marketing and plan for expansion, you can make millions.

Exactly, well said. I've expanded your sentences in my response above. We share the same opinion here, I'm glad to see that. The best combination in my opinion is to have two small businesses in the beginning (with minimal investments) - a long-term one and a seasonal business. For example, shisha in Serbia costs 4 to 6 euros, while during the summer in Montenegro it costs between 18 and 55 euros. So, I've invested 2600 euros to buy around 20 shishas, splitting them into 3 restaurants/bars where I was getting 25% from profit.

The long-term business I am focusing on is the boutique (shirts sale along with a luxurious caffee).
Of course, it's enough. Maybe even more than enough :)

I'm not saying we learn these stuff throughout the whole years of going to school. School is important nonetheless. I was referring to things you need to be aware of before starting a business, like plans and stuff. I'm not saying I wrote a three-page essay about my business plan, but it's good to know that there are steps. I'm not expecting a teacher to teach me how to run a successful business because he/she is a teacher, not a successful businessman.

I like to think of it this way: "If you want to make money, you need to spend( investing ) money, but to spend money you need money, and to have money you need to make money." Once you find a way to make one of these steps, then it's easy. And in Balkan, sadly, you need connections or corrupt others so that you can keep your business up. Not always, but if you really want to win a lot, you have to xD

Understandable, while you make money off on the side during summer, you still have plans for a long-term business. Making that extra profit during summer helps you, obviously, but if you didn't have another plan in mind, then you would have to stop making money during the next 9 months. Good luck with your plans.

Please tell me how the fuck do I convince these morons that a website fucking helps them, I get so pissed when they say some shit along the lines of "regular clients already know everything", what about new ones?...

Mr Cofiliano how can you deny that we had any relation or intercourse, while you are prosecuting me?

Yep :D I never said you shouldn't go to courses which are specialized in finance/IT (excel and stuff), marketing etc. But school as general education for 12+ years is too much :D

I understand what you're trying to say. To start a business you need to be aware that it's not just "I have the idea", it's much more than that. To be honest, I never had a chance to learn (in school) how to make a business plan, identify competition, choose the right strategy to penetrate ( yeah it's the term businessmen use) the market, and set the right price. Useful things you can learn in school are: second language, formal writing, ways to learn/research... And that's pretty much it from the skills you need in business.

Sometimes people laugh at me when I answer them that I learned English playing in Argo, and improved my organization skills by leading 2-3 big businesses in Argo (SFTC - San Fierro Towing Company, AMB - Argonath Money Balancer) which had BSF support and around 50 employees at that time. I also learned how to gain advantage from a system which does not cover every hole

That's right. Get your ass up and start earning in other words :D Yes, you can grow big without any great idea, just by setting up a long-term deal with the government from which both parties will benefit. For example, a guy from here has set up a deal with the government THEN opened a company for office furniture. He equipped over 40,000 offices with furniture and still is equipping or renovating every government office. So yeah, in Balkan there are many "combinations" which are happening only here. Anyways, meeting people who are in the business can be always useful, they will know that you're, let's say, selling high quality rakija and they will say to people who want to buy rakija "Hey, I know a guy who's making badass rakija" and boom, you sold 5 bottles. If you manage to make connections with restaurants, cafes, and bars, your business is already making good money CONSTANTLY - long-term business we've been talking about.

Understandable, while you make money off on the side during summer, you still have plans for a long-term business. Making that extra profit during summer helps you, obviously, but if you didn't have another plan in mind, then you would have to stop making money during the next 9 months. Yep. Money makes money :D
My plan is to make my own brand and expand by franchising.

Well, they won't believe you unless they see the increase in revenue  Classic Balkan business. I made a website for my uncle who's working with mosaic stones where I posted all the work he has done - he got contacted by 4 people, 3 of them made a deal with him for around 3000 euros. Just because of the website. So yeah, I convinced him when he saw the cash
