I'm on my phone, so imma keep this short'n'sweet.

I've been noticing lately that most of the players barge into crime scenes without any particular rp just by looking at the map.

Cops camping at cranes starting to hide behind poles or crates when someone is trying to snipe them, just by looking at the map.

So I've come up with an idea, how about cops can only see the other cops and not the other players in the mini-map, and players cannot see anyone in the map but themselves.

This would probably make rps more interesting during a pursuit or a manhunt, since they can hide somewhere, even /area or /bu wouldn't be of much help.

That's dumb. I remember having a discussion about this matter before when I was still dev. We came to the conclusion that this was just plain unnecessary.

Regardless of what the consensus is right now among the devs, I don't support this. It just makes things unnecessarily annoying for a light roleplay server.

Any player can use the /dis command to get the accurate position of another player in comparison to his own. It follows that a blip on the radar is nothing more than a graphic representation of said command, at every instant.

Bottom Line: No.

/dis, /whocar and such need to be removed overall. They're used for nothing but runing roleplay and gaining information outside of RP boundaries. Oh, I'm i'm escaping in a maverick? Let me just /whocar seasparrow so I can know the cops have called in an armed helicopter so I can land and go on foot again. Oh, /whocar seasparrow none? Great, I can get into the heli again!

As for the blips, I'd support their removal overall, but it seems that management has a strict opinion on this, which is sad.

If you don't want to completely remove them, then add a SA-MP like system when they are seen only when near-by, because honestly, blips do nothing but ruin RP for most people.

To the idea in the first post: No.

To Huntsman's idea: No.

Blips will be visible 24/7 and there will not be any way to make them not visible.

Alarba summed it up pretty well, but on top of it I'll say that neither /dis or /whocar or /car <player> will be removed. If we were to remove such commands, then we would also re-work /bu etc to not reveal any information unless the officer has the criminal within his line of sight.

We do not want the server the be like that as it would completely kill the feel of the server that we've had for years that happens to also fit the overall requirements of the VC:MP community as a whole.

As for the other scenario, if a criminal is evading in a heli then it is sea sparrow's job to get him out of it, if the criminal lands as he sees sea sparrow closing in, then it has done it's job.

Alarba and Kessu have summed this up quite nicely. The answer is no.
