*Pulls out another crazy idea that is probably worth a giant pile of nothing*

OK so here it is. With all this political hype that has been going on recently, and a random suggestion by Jcstodds, I was thinking it would be cool if the citizens of Argonath could vote for like Mayors or Congressman of sorts. We wouldn't vote for a president or nothing because we already have one who always gets the "Four more years!" shout no matter what. But it would be cool to have government officials of sorts. Maybe separate them into precincts like The Country Side, SF, LS, LV and The Desert, or sub categories of these places. Anyways I guess these people would be more of a Celebrity Figure rather than an actual law maker because we have these people already. But it could be some cool RP. But they could still influence the decision of law making kind of like a "Peoples Vote" thing.

I agree with you, plus it would be fun to see some elections setup in Argonath. Hell, you wouldn't even need to script anything, just to place some well written threads and organize some elections... It would still be fun.

Well who knows, maybe they could help create simple laws like on drug enforcement and ARPD regulations and such. Maybe we could even create taxes >:-)  BTW abe happy 2000th post *hums a lil tune to happy birthday*

Yeah I mean you wouldn't need much...you could organize some rallys and a forum moderator could create a Poll on the forums in which people could vote only once. You could have the voting expire in like two days or something!

As for now, the choosing of Mayor's is handed out by Developers and Main Administrators, so I doubt that anything like this could kick off soon.

True, but Rstar only elects other Rstar.. so It's kind of unfair..

At the minute the current mayor's are simply a title for the developers. They do not actually do anything (as RP a mayor).

What could happen, is that if a mayor is elected, he can bridge a gap between the citizens, the police and the developers (high government).

  For example, new laws could be introduced in some areas, and some removed in others. Eg, "the mayor of Aldea Malvada may want to legalise cannabis", there would be a vote on the law, and a result (although there would need to be a reason for the law). 

  Citizens can proceed to the mayor with new ideas for that area, including development of buildings (eg a prison) and such. The power of the police could be altered in different areas by vote, as not all places in the world have the same police and there is a big contrast in the cities of LS, SF and LV.

  It could be good idea because will spark lots of new RP scenarios, will provide jobs etc. Also it could be a bad idea, if after the elections etc, the mayor decides to sit around sayin "worship the mayor" and doesnt do anything.

It wouldn't even have to be mayors...I mean I guess we could elect more than one rep to an area. They could be senators or something! And yeah I agree they would have to do their job.

 If we had elections, and mayors were elected, the election itself would be an interesting event with the mayors giving speeches etc, would provide jobs for security/ transport. If they did nothing then they would be doing no less than current mayors, but would have had fun in process.
  Of course, mayors should help create events and such, have an influence on laws in their area (for RP role?) (with agreement of other government). My understanding of mayors and politics isnt very much, im just trying to explore ways to make the life in Argonath more interesting.

I applied for mayor ages back to Gandalf. This decision was never return on.
I was going to run as LS Mayor and kick the city in to shape.
This idea is good and would like to see what you guys believe about this idea.

I could be LS major , but i think only Admins can be Majors eh? =/
