Good evening!

Long time no see, how is everyone?

I've had something on my mind for the past week, and i've not yet found it around the forums.

Is argonath RPG Expanding to the GTA Trilogy (remasterd edition)?

As in are we going to host new kind of Liberty:MP/MTA:VC/VC:MP/MTA:SA/SA:MP for the new upcoming remasters?

If yes, the games are currently using the Unreal Engine, is there any support for this kind of MP?

I would see it as very unlikely for any mod to be made for the trilogy to support multiplayer. The current mods can't be used on the games since it's in unreal engine. The only possibility is a new mod to be made for them. open.mp is working on a new multiplayer mod to replace SAMP since SAMP is no longer being developed. I see it unlikely for them to support it unless there's enough people who want to do it. I could see it happening since you can't buy GTA SA anymore that supports SAMP and you can only pirate it. I wouldn't expect it though due to the age of the games.

I think that some form of a third party multiplayer for the trilogy is going to arise, given the fact that the old games will no longer be available on purchase and won't be legally acquirable anymore, so there will be a need for a replacement.

However, given how Rockstar games and Take Two cracked down on several prominent mods like GTA Underground and a few others with cease and desist letters, I think the community might become much less willing to try something like this. It is very likely that Rockstar will have some form of GTA Online'ish cashgrab multiplayer for those games, and they won't want competition.

I guess we'll see. I would definitely love to see a SAMP/VCMP'esque multiplayer mod for them, and an Argonath server. However, two questions would remain:
1) Will we have developers to work on the server if such mod was to arrive given the current state of the community, and;
2) Will we have a playerbase for these mods that will be worth the work? Everybody expected RageMP to save the day, but we all know how that went.

Indeed,

That's why i am making this topic, is one of these Remastered games (if there will be any MP available) able to regain the activity for Argonath RPG, eventually making "AGGA" Argonath great again with a steady playerbase.

I have hopped on the forums regularly the past and to be honest i see not to much progress..

A group of talented people could try to make an MP mod, but it would be risky given Rockstar's parent company Take-Two Interactive's recent history of sending lawyers and private investigators after modders. It's a bit unpredictable as to what mods they decide to shut down and what mods they allow to stay.

They shut down GTA Underground and GTA United, eventually mods that connected all of the GTA maps into one right before announcing the Trilogy. I assume that they did not want any mod "competing" against their own remakes of 3D era games. No multiplayer mod as far as I am aware was shut down. RageMP, FiveM, VCMP, SA:MP, MTA:SA - all seem to be intact. I think it is safe to say they are not targeting third party multiplayer mods. After all, despite competing with GTA Online, RAgeMP and FiveM must've brought in some revenue for  Rockstar because I know that a fair chunk of people bought the game just for the roleplay servers.

But yeah, Take Two are scumbags and Rockstar seems to just go along.

They shut down the first multiplayer mod for GTA V called "Grand Theft Multiplayer" or something like that. FiveM's story is a bit weird. FiveM was initially shut down and the original author was sued after they sent goons to his home. After a while, someone else took over the project and rebooted it and it took off with the twitch streamers. I suspect the only reason they let FiveM exist is because it now validates your copy of the game, and the streamers have essentially been encouraging a lot of people to buy the game on PC, which obviously boosts their sales.

Let's just hope that they have no plans for GTA Trilogy Online...

I'd personally would not want to be involved with the MP mod development primarily because of how Take2 reacts to anything that might make them money.

That being said, if someone does decide to build it - make it open source, allow for community of developers to contribute, that way T2 will have a harder time taking it down.

Argonath is dead. But it's only dead if we let it be dead.

Can't pull any sources or quotes, but I've heard that they're planning to include a GTA Online-esque MP into the games. Which would mean that we can possibly have a client that can be broken down and customized, or worst case scenario - have another Rockstar cashgrab.

Looks like the source code was leaked and it seems to be that the game is even crappier than the mobile port (done by the same studio).

Haha it is a disaster.

I called it. Everyone was so excited for it but I was like: it's modern day Rockstar, they are about to lazily rerelease GTA V for the third time and charge you a full price for it. Do you expect any actual work being put into these remakes?

I remember saying to my friends that mark my words: it will just be a shitty port of the mobile version with a new coat of paint, and you'll pay full AAA price for it. Was I not right :D.

You wanna see how a Definitive Edition is done? See Mafia: Definitive Edition. Now that is a company who truelly shown love to the original. And that one was only 40 bucks at launch  :hah:

The Trilogy is such a blatant cash grab, which not only does not fix old bugs - it introduces numerous of new ones. It would have been forgivable if it was priced at 20 EUR or something.

Don't get me wrong, I think that the environments themselves really look very nice in this version - especially Vice City: it's neon light atmosphere now looks fantastic. But man, the characters models are despicable. Plus, lots of those games lost their vibe and atmosphere. GTA III is way too light, GTA SA is missing the orange tint and the removal of fog makes the map look very weird.

It's just.. sad. 0.5/10 on Metacritic. Well deserved.
