There are private servers, free servers, but that's against the "rules" of WoW, but nothing will happen.
you just need to change your Realmlist to whatever you're supposed to, and voila, free wow.

I bought a whole new copy (no game time cards were on sale :P ) and started playing in the RP server known as Moonglade.
My name is Kromm Striderhoof (nickname is Striderhoof) and I'm a tauren. So if you play in Moonglade as a horde character, look me up.

Played so much SP WC that if you take a name that is appropriate for it (Ex. Kromm Striderhoof), I can tell the race lol.
Anyway, I'm soon gonna join one of my friends in some private server.

Sadly, i cannot afford to play on official WoW Server, so i play on pirates......but it's better than nothing.

And btw, i also love the Warcraft lore very much. Ishnu-alah, brother.

I used to play a year on private servers before moving on to retail and I have to say that it's MUCH better. The other players MAY or may NOT be total noobs (I was in a group with a prot. pally who said he was a healer and a holy priest who refused to heal because he didn't get a green).
If you have a good clan then it's really easy.
Privates started to piss me off (crashes, rollbacks, cocky admins[Blizzard has that issue too], bugs) so I bought retail as it's not very expensive imo. 200 EEK-- interrupted as a flatland cougar attacks his character while alt-tabbed -- is not that much imho.
So, Altair, if I don't see you in my server in one month, then KROMM SMASH your face up.

EDIT: I just got a NICE RP guild invite in my server to a guild named "Defenders of Mulgore". Taurens only!

Bull... you wont ever see an admin unless you call for one, and when you do they are so polite that it makes you want to just hug them and feed them with gummy bears.

Then i guess i'll be a DK Blood Elf.......i don't like ally's too. It's a stated fact, that all "starters-newbies" start as ally because they all like to be on the "good side". And half of the "starters-newbies" remain with their status. That's the only fact i didn't like allys and i took Horde.

To be a DK you need a level 55 character. + blood elves look gay. Unless you're a blood elf woman.
My tauren ALWAYS speaks Taurahe.

But yea, they are the best, and Undead are the second best.
All other races are rather rubbish to me : /...
Tauren are okay I suppose.
