Hey guys, too be honest i don't know anything about the hardware side of computers, more the software side. So i need peoples help, I want to build the Ultimate gaming computer but i don't know where to start, what stuff to buy, where to get it for the cheapest, if it will all be compatable together etc..

It would be great if you guys could compose a list of all the stuff that would make a really really good gaming computer, by that i mean being able to turn up the settings on all modern games like gta4( and games coming out soon ) to the max and having to lag at all so that the game looks fantastic and like it was made in 2009, so if you can then please make a list of all the things i would need to build one and what type it is.

I understand there a lot of guides on the internet but this way i can get feedback from players, know that the knowledge isn't out of date and perhaps if someone lists something theres a chance another player will know if have heard of problems occuring with that thing - Like a graphics card.

Even know i have an xbox and i prefer that I'm still sick of playing games that i have to turn the settings down to run it and the end result makes the game look like it was made in the 60's. In this game lord of the rings that i  sometimes play on my computer  i can only play it at 'very low' setting and even then i have lag.

Cost... I'm aware it might cost a lot of money to do this so i'm hoping to turn it into a project, so i might say buy one thing on one pay check and on my next buy another thing ( I'm still at full time education ). Hoping so computer tech savys can help me out :-)

You've come to the right place. If you want to build a custom system, I recommend Dino PC. They have a great selection of high spec parts and cases etc.

As for specs I would recommend:

A 64-bit Operationg system of your choice.
Newer Dual or Quad core Pentium proccessor. ( IMHO AMD are terrible processors )
4-8Gb RAM
250-500Gb HDD ( or higher if you wish. Personally I would prefer something like my current setup, A 80Gb and a 250GB)
nVidia GFX Card, 8 series or higher ( I would recommend a 9800GT with 512MB-1GB memory )
Good amount of USB and SD card ports.
a good motherboard supporting all of these parts.
A decent case for the look, plus a good fan and cooling setup. with high spec parts you need good ventelation.
Decent sound card of your choice.
Good mouse with good sensitivity. ( optional )
Good keyboard with shortcuts and hotkey assignment. ( optional )

and that should be it...should come to Around about £600 - £900 depedning on the parts, which is a good price for high quality custom built towers.

I got that in my mind too. When you got enough money, you could build a Core i7 920 system with 3*2GB DDR3 memory and a nVidia GTX 260.

If you want ultimate graphics card, i recommend nVidia SLI technology.
SLI technology gives possibilty to use 2 or even 3 graphics card at the same time!
Check more information from www.slizone.com

For note: My friend uses 3 graphics card at same time, he's games are very cool, GTAIV on max graphics and no lag at all.

Oh, and Alienware.com makes great computers.
These are real gaming computers, recommended!

SLI is too expensive and needs very nice cooling and a good power supply.
With the specs that i recomended, you can run GTA IV on High settings.. with 100 draw distance.. etc.

Hmm... New games... Highest?

Okay... Really.. HIGHEST?

Or like, HIGHEST without AA on ?

Thats going to cost around 2000$ I guess

Hmm...

You arent really asking on the good forum, you should post somewhere else... But ok:

I recommend Windows Vista 64 BIT SP1... The version for self builders!

For RAM: Get something with DDR3 and get atleast 4GB... 2 x 2 GB, dont know which one is good

Get a motherboard that supports: The processor socket, DDR3 RAM, PCI-E 2.0 ( ? )... Dont go cheap on it, buy a 200 - 300$ one

Video card: I recommend the Nvidia Geforce 280 series... The one with 1GB!

Power supply... There are good ones and bad ones. Don't just buy one, search a power supply page which has tested the power supplies. I recommend around 1000 WATT

Processor... Quad Core would be best. Extreme core is still a little too expensive so go for the cheapest before it

Buy good watercooling and overclock it...

I recommend you to either email the company you want a custom made one ( Say you want a high end computer and how much it can cost )

Or ask around on some forum, but then you still ahve to find the parts, which can be hard...

I made a mistake with my computer, its not that high end... done make the same mistake... I warn you... You will not be able to play GTA4 on the highest... Without turning off AA and such...  :(

I have the perfect gaming computer ;)

Intel Core 2 Quad X6700 Processor (Over Clocked)
8GB RAM
Vista 64bit Home Premium Operating system
XFX GTX 280 Graphics Card (Over Clocked)
1200W Power Supply
Water Cooling to cool overclocked things
HD Sound Card
A good motherboard that supports a lot of stuff.. some expensive one will do
And monitor + keyboard + mouse + game pad (for more enjoyable gaming)

Pretty much the best you can do.. ;)
