Can't start up my MTA

okays i am very frustrated and angry right now. in this weekend i have already had to fix 5 problems with my computer and i am getting dead tired from it.

this time i cannot start up my mta.

i was ingame and my game crashed. so i shut everything down. and now when i try to start it up i get a message kinda like this (i had to translate it from dutch to english)

an error occured in multi theft auto 0.5 en has to be shut down.

(couldnt translate the next line it says but this is sorta what it says)

you were starting this thing up, but some information is probably lost.

The solution was found... the website MTAVC was down

If it crashes the first it does, that is before you connect. Its the mta website that are missing..
try this:

Put this in mta.ini DontGetLatest=1

Steps:
1. Open mta.ini in notepad
2. Search for [Main]
3. Add DontGetLatest=1 on a new line under [Main]
3. Save and start mtaclient

Ex:
[Main]
DontGetLatest=1

Mate im having the exact same problem. Everything was fine earlier. Now I get the same error...I cant play MTA at all..

and i also cannot get to the mta FAQ because the website wont load for somereason

I just resinstalled MTA, and even Vice City, and I still get the same error.. :'(

Something is up.

I will write some tips that might help.
When in doubt, download a fresh MTA client. Make sure you can play VC without MTA.

1. Re-installing MTA. : be sure to install it ONLY for the games you have. If you have only Vice-City do not install GTA3.
2. Install it with the error reporting tool. I once did without and after a crash could not type in game. When installed with the error reporter it works fine..
3. Reset game paths: under the options tab you can reset the game paths to your game

If you get an error...try making a screenshot of it.

I reinstalled GTA, and MTA.

I have ALREADY played earlier..

The website is also down.

I cant configure options as MTA doesnt start up..

i already tried to instal it without the gta 3 thing, no effect. with patch, without patch. no diffrence.

I did the same when I reinstalled MTA.
I think its becuase the website is down...Not sure..
either way, something is really messed up..

Yup, exactly the same problems here. That's why I registered. This has to be a general problem since more members have been getting the same errors.

Did you uninstall MTA before re-installing ?
Also check you did not install the GTA3 option.

Thank you! Fully working again. Strange that it happened to everyone at the same time, though. I re-installed everything aswell.

gandalf, already told now...
The big problem was that all of you have done a hack into the box in the first window in MTA 0.5 called" update welcome massage on startup".
And if the mtavc site is down, you can't get in MTA...  :roll:

Metro do the change as is described here and it will not matter if MTAVC site is down or not.
It is not a hack but a problem with the standard installation of MTA.
