The Tata Nano, the world's cheapest car, has been launched in India.
Costing just 100,000 rupees ($1,979; £1,366), the Nano will now go on sale across India next month.

I just love these tiny wheels...

Not to mention that the bearings are only capable of holding a speed of 70km/h without wearing out.
So, go above 70 and you're screwed also ;)

Not to mention, it's not up to Europe's standards, so luckily.. we won't be seeing these ugly monsters on the road :)

Wow that thing is small......if you were sitting in the back seat and werent wearing a seatbelt, you would probroly nail your crotch on a cupholder in front on a head in collision. (ok that was a stupid joke..)

But I would buy one. as a toy for my 8 year old cousin...

Haha interesting responses.

For starters its not meant to go very fast. Its a city car, and with India's traffic in cities(tier-I and tier-II), you cant even go above 40kph in a car. Thats why it suits the Indian market.

Therefore even if you were in an accident, nothing much would happen :P

Was gonna get one for myself ;o but then decided that I love bikes more than anything.

The cost isnt actually 100k. The base model does come to 140k on the roads, ofc the company doesnt disclose that.
This car was designed to beat the problem that commuters face in cities when moving around with slightly bigger cars. The smaller the vehicles, the better(in cities in India).

That's a sexy little car.

With the looks of a polished turd

But no no im just joking. None of the less I bet it is great for the roads of India's cities, I can imagine.
Also I think this should become avaliable in other Asian countries too.. I myself know the streets of bangkok, and Thailand's cities and its just traffic everyday (espcially at rush hour where its just packed).
One of these things would do great, but I dunno if people would buy it in Thailand thats the thing  , they would proberly rather go for a bike or scooter, even people with familes who dont have cars use bikes for the whole family (and trust me - the most amount of people ive seen on a bike in Thailand is 5 and it was a small scooter looking thing).

(and yes if your wondering, I am half Thai, but live in the UK.)

Quote
Engine Type    624 cc, 2 cylinder, MPFI
Maximum Engine Output    35 PS @ 5250 rpm
Maximum Torque    48 NM @ 3000 +/-500 rpm
Maximum Speed    105 kmph
Gradeability    30%
Transmission    Synchromesh on all forward gears, sliding mesh on reverse gear with overdrive on 4th gear
No. of Gears    4 Forward + 1 Reverse

lets give a mechanics run down on this car

start with the engine
33 hp/24 kW? what the? insane!! lol id still be able to smoke the tires on that :D the torque should be increased by having a Higher first gear ratio to get the car going a little quicker than it does now
Syncro on gears and sliding on Rev yea sure no problem, onlt 4 gears, if they want to sell this car Heaps good they should have a 5th gear, for overdrive

Turning radius: 4 metres lol :D.. thats perimiter lol :D thats Tiny

Front and rear Drummies.. yea cos of the low speeds

(5 litres per 100 kilometres) thats a total of 300KM... Load of shit lol!!!!
the Ascent we have used 6-8L per 100Km with a 45L tank... go figure... thats a 4 Cyl
the engine could be more fuel Efficent

wheels could be 2 inch bigger to get a little more power out of it

Wait a second..... 2Cylinder...

4 stroke??

there are 2 dead strokes...
pfft.... it says nothing about it being a 2 Stroke

My opinion,

A good Car, if it was 2 stroke the Power would be increased, exept you need to add oil, but that can be done electronically like have a 10L container in the Engine bay, with oil, and take wats needed electronically, so it has no hassels

Power is lost through the transmission, also it is lost through the wheel contact due to the tyres being miniture i could go on but you get my ideas

Does anyone speak Wattinese?  :D

well, I can kinda make out hes talking about the power of the car  :conf:

Like Arjun said, its not the power that matters in a vehicle like this.
As adding more parts would create a higher cost, therefore leading to people not buying this due to the price.
They are obviously trying to get a car, and strip it to the bear essentials while keeping it.. ..a car, one that functions - and imo I think they have suceeded.

A little car that you can use in the city, and you know what.. I think this is Asia/India's response to Europe's, Smart Citycar

http://estb.msn.com/i/D7/92D76BA9F874C091895BD4C153E1F8.jpg

Except the Smart City Car is a two seater, but I think that is kinda looks more stylish.

 :D
