I was wondering.. I know that you shouldn't cause a gang war with 20 people vs 3 people for example, but what if you are 5 guys trying to rob 1 guy from another group that the guys' group have validations with? Is that allowed or not? It's not a gang war, but it could cause a gang war.

It is up to each mafia to set out the rules of engagement.
If you set out rules, and the other mafia refuses to follow them, simply drop validation to end all fighting immediately.
