I'd like to back up the point that sexual orientation is a neurological and biological thing.

Same sex attraction can be said in part to be caused by shared traits between someone of a homosexual orientation and also a hetrosexaul of the same gender. Such examples being gay men and straight women have, on average, equally proportioned brain hemispheres. Lesbian women and straight men have, on average, slightly larger right brain hemispheres. Thus simply put its a shared trait with someone with the same sexual prefrence.

Also research has shown stark diffrences between hetrosexuals and those attracted to the same sex. An example being
Gay men and lesbians are significantly more likely to be left-handed or ambidextrous than are non-gay men and women;[Simon LeVay argues that because "[h]and preference is observable before birth... [t]he observation of increased non-right-handness in gay people is therefore consistent with the idea that sexual orientation is influenced by prenatal processes," perhaps heredity. Thus this points to pre-determiniation is regards to sexuality.

As for enviroment I believe it does play a part, ablbeit not in someone choosing their prefrence. The role I believe it plays is either it supresses the discovery of ones orientation or infact brings it out (dependant obviously on the type of enviroment.) The genral psychological makeup of  person could also be argued to be key in that for example some people take longer to discover and or come to terms with it than others. Enviroment must be taken into consideration but can not be taken on it's own.

And also, what you said about brain types/hemispheres reminded me of what Gandalf said awhile back - that many many people of the LGBT community are very creative people.
I find this very interesting - yet never really understood it. It seems to be perfectly true, (I would know as I do go to a performing arts school! (A) just.. pointing that out) look at the media for example, many many people of the performing arts, such as musicians or artists are homosexual or bisexual.

I've always been interested in why this is like this. But hey, it just seems to be..
