Well, in real life I am straight, but IG my character is bisexual...though has a thing for Monkey's too (and penguins of course)! 
It shows that I don't have a problem with people's sexuality. I know people IRL who are gay, and others who are bisexual...but I don't flatter myself in thinking they fancy me!

Call me insensible, but I can't see what's there to discuss about homosexuality or vice-versa.
You don't see us straight folks creating topics dedicated to heterosexuality. If you're not going to talk about sex on this topic, what are you going to talk about? You could compare two sentences, one said by a straight person and one by a homosexual:

Straight person:
"I just met this blond girl, DAYUMMMMM... Bitch had a tight ass anyone would wanna get their hands on."

Homosexual person:
"This is announcement people. Are you all hearing this? Is my microphone working properly? Is anyone filming this? You better get to the toilet now if you are in need of a pee because for the next two hours, I will tell you about my 55th experience with a man."

The straight person clearly doesn't care; he is just using small-talk to brief his friend about some "bitch" he met. Contrary to this, we've got the homosexual guy who wants to share his experience with the whole world; I wouldn't be surprised if he had an "It's Okay to Be Gay" shirt in his drawer and an amplifier next to him whenever he speaks. Alas, I'm going to get negative comments about my post even though this is not meant to insult any homosexual person as I am clearly not against that type of activity. Yet, I do think some homosexuals should stop seeking attention and just be themselves, be gay.

The reason why they create such topics and organizations is because the world sees them as inferior and different, and thus discriminates against them, so to fight the discrimination, they make themselves known so people learn the truth from their point of view, thus hopefully spreading acceptance instead of hate. If they were seen by society as completely equal, the said topic and organizations likely wouldn't exist.
