Ill be doing a new wave of drum videos soon, cos looking back at most of those videos.. I aint happy with them.
Im making TOO many mistakes, and doing wrong beats, and bits at the wrong section!!!

So, what im gonna do it redo most of those videos and I will do it correctly, and play alot better.
Oh and also, ill play looking like im enjoying myself, rather than a brick on a chair...
Also guys, just to let you know, Ive changed my mind, and cant do requests now guys. Cos the way my drumming and self teaching works is like this:
1) Choose a technique to learn
2) Pick a song with that technique I want to learn, e.g Offbeats/linear playing, would be Knights of Cydonia.
3) Once Ive learnt to play that song, I can now play the technique ive learnt in the song and can apply it in other songs, and everywhere!
Clever eh?

A few of those songs I posted, I cant actually play 100% yet, such as the Octavarium Instrumental, you see me playing the wrong beat, making mistakes.. etc, which is also another one of my self teaching styles; to play to my limit. Pick a song I can barely play, but at the same time learn to play it whilst focusing on getting technique right.
Ive been doing this for 10 months since I started drumming, and tbh, it has really pushed me and got me to where I am now.
I see people on YouTube who have drum lessons.. (YES, drum LESSONS with teachers), who have been playing for 2 years, and yet dont play anything outside 4/4 simple rock beat or still suck at drumming. What im saying is, I think its a matter of motivation and self teaching style that has got me where I am in a matter of 10 months.
The whole song, Octavarium is a hard HARD song.. all the way up there in the list hard drumming songs imo. Yet I can play 90% of it, im really proud of this.
Its been 10 months, ive only just begin drumming pretty much.. just think where I could be in 3 years?

So to all people learning instruments, even if its not drums. So, guitar, piano, bass.. whatever, remember to be motivated.
Your style is your style, dont let anybody try and change it. If you have an inspiration (mine is Mike Portnoy), then use he/she as an aim, think to yourself, 'One day, I will be like him/her, I will be able to play like him/her' etc. It really helps..
Push youself to the limit, dont be afraid to try and play something you know you cant.. cos eventually if you practise hard, you will and then you've unlocked another stage in your learning process.
Right now Im learning Metropolis Part 1, and Take The Time by Dream Theater, at the beginning when I chose to learn these songs (2/3 weeks ago) I coulnt play them.. I would even hesitate many times when playing.. but after awhile, practising. I managed to begin to get there, now I can ALMOST play both of them through, but still learning.. yet its only been a few weeks.
I tend to ignore traditional drum teachers who stick to curriculems or books. But one drum teacher ive had who I had a session with last month is a man called
Andy Edwards , he is the drummer of one of my favorite bands - IQ. And he doesnt teach to a book or whatever, and I loved this.. he just told me to play and whereever I was doing something wrong, he corrected it. This is another thing I suggest.. if you want a drum teacher, get one that is actually a professional DRUMMER.. not a traditional teacher!!
lol, sorry for the long post, I think I got carried away. Anyway.. my main point is, I will be posting more videos soon.
