I think the owners dropped their support of the Oscars, meaning little pixels won't appear next to a name and there will be no official recognition other than that of your peers. I do tihnk Jubin is correct here. If someone wanted to organise People's Awards or something, even using the same form as the oscars, I don't think there would be a problem because it is just a little bit of recognition amongst some regular players. "who are your favourite members 2012"-like topics are kind of the same thing - you give awards to those whom you like most in the server, but without any official recognition or involvement from server administration. Kind of a bad way to illustrate my point but I hope you understand it

It is more like remaking something the Server Owners simply do not do anymore. It has nothing to do with allowing it. When Tony Hawk stops doing 900s does that mean he dislikes it and doesn't recommend anyone else to do it?

That doesn't change anything for what he has done with the Official Awards not the ones we are thinking of doing. Again you are trying to mix up players organized and Government one.

You are all wrong. The Server Owners didn't drop anything. Aragorn specifically announced the change, and why it happened. He just hasn't been active enough lately to organize it for this year. That doesn't mean you guys have outright permission to remake something they ended under a different name without even getting their permission. It's simple...we can ask a Server Owner if they will allow it since it'd be remaking the same thing. They say yes, we can do it. They say no, we can't. If we are making a completely different system, like what GiacJr mentioned with the "Favorite Players of 2012" or something like that which hasn't been done before, then we can do that just fine without permission as it wasn't something they disallowed.

We cannot override a Server Owner's decision simply because they are inactive.

I was the one who said we would have to ask for permission. I never said everyone, I was speaking to those that said they could go against what Aragorn said and recreate the same, exact awards under another name when he specifically changed them because he didn't like that system being used.

People's Awards is something different. Like I said, as long as we aren't recreating the awards that the Server Owners changed purposely, then we are fine to make unofficial ones all we want.

You clearly stated that we all are wrong SugarD. So yes as you did not stated it to only those who you think that is going to againts owners here of course you were talking to all of us. And yeah you were only one who needed to say obvious because everyone else knew it already that we will ask for permission. None else felt like it is necessary to say because it is obvious if those this thing would be anything like what we had. But oh well pointless to discuss it with you because owners will make the call anyways. Will be following and hope it will happen.

Actually everyone else had suggested that we do it anyway. I was the one who brought up needing to ask them for permission because recreating the same awards would be going against them.

I agree, but it's not so much the awards themselves that is the issue. If we recreate something the Server Owners changed because they didn't like how the community was reacting with it, that would be going against them. As long as they give it the okay, or we create something completely different, then we are fine.
