I am a movies consumer, I love, specially, the old ones (The Green Mile, The Shawshank Redemption, The Usual Suspects, Pulp Fiction, etc.) and lately I have lost hope on the cinema, movies have absolutely no history, no chemistry between the cast...
But yesterday I bought the newspaper and a movie came as a gift : "Flashbacks of a Fool".I thought : "Daniel Craig - Disaster as an actor" so I didn't saw it right away.
After coming from my part time, I wasn't sleepy yet, I decided to have a look at it - 8am and I started to watch it.I must say, I wasn't really interested in the the beginning, mainly because Craig shows right in the beginning with his dumb face.
20 minutes after, the story starts to develop - I was really addicted to it so I watched it without any drinks or snacks.

The movie surprised me a lot, Craig wasn't as bad as he is in 007.
The movie ended and I stood still for about half an hour thinking about my life (You know, things you could've done while you were a kid, people you loved and lost, etc).

It was the best movie I saw since 2006(after Cinderella Man), and I'll leave you the trailer, just so you can think in buying it, or not.

[yt=425,350][/yt]

In a scale of 0-20 I would rate this as a 17.

What I said is that he wasn't that bad - not the same as he had a good performance.
I'll have a look to that movie though, seems interesting.

I didn't even read the first post. And I didn't even saw flashbacks of a fool. I have it here but it just sound too mushy.

I just pointed "Layer cake" cause I thought you may not know it and since FOAF stars Daniel Craig, you might enjoy seeing another movie with him. Not cause I think he is good. Just cause I like to see several movies with the same actors to compare their performances. I thought you might like to do the same.

PS: Now I read the first post. But you still haven't convinced me to watch the movie.

You're right about the movies that are out lately, you have to look very hard. The movies that are in top 10's are usually the most crappy ones in my opinion. I guess that's cause these days actors get big roles for being popular, instead of their acting skills. Basically it's more important actors get merchandise and advertising deals they can link the movie to instead of their pure acting skills, you feel you're missing out.
However, Daniel Craig is a great actor. He just doesn't have one of those faces that allows his to do many obvious facial expressions that is important for actors. It's harder for him. The last two Bond movies were just bad and nothing like the original ones decades ago. I thought he was really good in Munich.
I've got some other titles for you to watch:

Tropa de Elite
City of God
RocknRolla
Every movie with Simon Pegg
He's just not that in to you
Cass
Street kings.

I haven't heard about that movie Flashbooks of a Fool, I'll watch it soon and post again.

Are they?
I would have to disagree :

"1.   9.1   The Shawshank Redemption (1994)   436,222
2.   9.1   The Godfather (1972)   359,644
3.   9.0   The Godfather: Part II (1974)   209,878
4.   8.9   Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo. (1966)   130,103
5.   8.9   Pulp Fiction (1994)   357,124
6.   8.9   Schindler's List (1993)   237,459
7.   8.8   The Dark Knight (2008)   382,501
8.   8.8   12 Angry Men (1957)   94,024
9.   8.8   One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975)   182,312
10.   8.8   Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)   244,189"

About Tropa de Elite, I've watched, it was good, but nothing out of the extraordinary.

I finally watched the movie and I can say I am very disappointed. I has high expectations cause not only joey but also some of my friends had told me that they liked it, that it was deep and all that.
But I've just watched the movie and I thought the argument was just too shallow. It doesn't develop characters. And in the end when the characters are finally being exposed the movie ends. Thats the worst thing about this movie, when it reaches the climax, when it is about to go deep, the curtain closes. Looks like they preferred to end the movie with a drama bomb instead of squeezing the juice.
But the biggest problem is really the characters, they are so shallow that by the end of the movie I still had problems associating the names to the characters.
