Monitor doesn't turn on...

So I have this DCLCD monitor, dunno what size it is, and I'm having this annoying problem. A couple of days ago, my monitor decided to turn on slower than usual. This morning, it decided to go into permanent sleep mode. What I mean by this, is that my monitor's power light (in my case, blue) turns on, as if the monitor is about to be turned on, but goes off again, and repeats this process over 9000 times, refusing to let my monitor turn on. I tried re-plugging, shutting it off for a while then turning it back on, unhook the monitor from the computer, and even let my computer stay off for a while. Nothing worked; the monitor's power light keeps on blinking and it won't turn on. Any suggestions? I'm really low on cash, so buying a new monitor is my last resort...

well, could be that your signal cable from the PC to the screen is damaged inside..
maybe the resistors/transistors inside the screen are fried so it cant work properly and turn on because its drawing to much power or something else

I don't have another computer to test it with o-o

well, could be that your signal cable from the PC to the screen is damaged inside..
maybe the resistors/transistors inside the screen are fried so it cant work properly and turn on because its drawing to much power or something else

From my experience:

a) Signal Cable received internal damage / b) 2 Components are touching inside and are shorting it out.

FIX: a) Replace signal cable / b) Buy a new monitor.

Cane did you by any change bend the cable to an excessive angle?? like a 60-80 degree or higher bend? if you did you may have torn the inner cables.. a guy i know did that and had the same problems cos he bent the cable badly

I just tried to connect it on the laptop, and it still did the same thing. :o

And I think I MIGHT have bent the cable....  :redface:

try take the cable and bend it slightly all over and feel for any loose spots or spaces.. well its not very precise but sometimes you can feel for breaks if theyre big enough.. but anyway you will needa buy a new cable  :razz:

Look above your initial post, you'll see I entertained the idea before you. I only said what you said the second time round by accident.

a) Signal Cable received internal damage
FIX: a) Replace signal cable

if you did you may have torn the inner cables

This happens to me all the time (I dont know if its a Windows 7 bug, or an issue with my Monitors) but

turn the computer off (push and hold power button) then unplug it.

wait 5 seconds for all power to be exhausted from the computer. plug it back in, startup again.

(Do the same for the monitor)

Monitors dont "just die" unless they are very defective, or extremely old

**IF that dosent work. do this.

Turn of the computer (push and hold button)

Unplug the computer

(wait 5 seconds)

open the case, and locate the BIOS Battery



remove the battery. plug the computer back in(with the battery removed)

turn it on for 305 seconds, then turn it back off (Regardless what the LCD displays)

keep it plugged in, and reinsert the battery.

you might have to reconfigure the Boot Device Priority to the local HDD

Sickness i doubt its a bios related issue  :poke:  its probably the screen cable which has been damaged or the pins on the signal cable could be damaged...
