In England, normal patrol Officers are not armed with a firearm. But, if needed, we have ARV (Armed Response Vehicle).

Police: Mainly because I want to join the Traffic Police.. like my brother. Chasing a suspect down the motorway in a Subaru or such.

If a police officer or a SWAT operative or whoever shoots, he shoots in a tactical place to bring the suspect down ALIVE (kneecap, shoulder etc.)

In England, normal patrol Officers are not armed with a firearm. But, if needed, we have ARV (Armed Response Vehicle).

In Britain (not the UK), normal patrol officers have PPE(Personal protection equipment). That consists of A Baton, 2 cans of CS Gas(dependant on how important you are, I carry 2), A Taser(If you get the right sort of training you can patrol with one now), Hiatts Speedcuffs(Great things) and a radio.

By default you are issued with body armour (protects against knives and 9mm rounds).


In Northern Ireland you are routinely issued firearms (Glock 18's).
