polah bear check on youtube shot of gaz someone on pc version used noclip to check what happened, gac gets shot in back of neck(almost shoulder) so i do belive its him, face mask to cover a scar or like that.. its not just the voice he has that cheeky humor as gaz, and seems rather friendly to Soap, so ye i think its same guy

Yes, I totally agree, though its never really confirmed, lets hope we find out in MW3 :)

* It is interesting to note that Ghost is the only member of Task Force 141 (apart from Price) who refers to Captain MacTavish as "Soap".

Gaz is dead. That "shot in the back of the neck" cannot be seen without those hacks, it was made like that to look more cinematic, but infact he shot him in the head!
