Ah well, here we go again with this laggy computer.

I started up my computer today, it showed BIOS normal, all memory tests fine, loading Windows XP, then suddenly, restart! I was like okay, i will wait then. But it made restarts continuously, restart before showing any BIOS information. I thought, it might break something, so i pulled off the power cord. Now i am using my granny's laptop. The same thing happened yesterday, but then it loaded windows properly after 5th restart. I have done about 4 formats to it and cleaned it from dust once. I checked the CPU, fan, radiator, thermopaste - these look all fine.

Should i start looking for new computer or is it possible to fix it?

I might update my post as soon as i get more information.
I am willing to give out payment, if i get it fixed as soon as possible.
I need to do my school work in computer, but this laptop cannot be used for it, too laggy.

EDIT: And no useless posts please.

I think it is because of the HDD

Any way to test with other Power Supply? Maybe it is braking, and if it is, it may take other components with it (video card, HDD, mobo..)

I don't have any other Power Supply.

I talked to the computer teacher in school today and he told me, that computer's motherboard might have microbreaks in it, which can cause it. Probably this is the problem and the only thing is to buy new computer, if no other solution is found.

Yea thats what i was going to say, erm yea motherboard, acording to my IT class studies has some chips that memorize the options of the PC. Or it might be the power supply. Well you can try to go to a friend with your HDD and plug it in his PC and try it. Or same with PSU. If both work the right way, then its prob the motherboard. Well thats all the advice i can give to you, try google maybe if you are sure that both HDD and PSU are working. Or if the PSU and HDD are working then you just get a new MB or find a way to fix it.
Thats it folks :D

If you know what part is broken, don't buy new computer, buy new component (example: Motherboard)
And I suggest you to ask if your friend can loan you his/her PSU..
I think HDD is not the braking here.. Unless if PSU burned it, while braking..

The problem is that i don't know which part is broken.
If buying new motherboard, you need to buy new RAM memory also, maybe even CPU.
My friends don't know about computers very well.
Anyway, my dad will take my computer to his friend, he might check it over and fix it if he can.

If you buy new mobo which supports the components you have now, you don't need to buy other components..
Let's hope ur dad's friend can fix this :)

I tested my computer today, as i needed to get some important stuff from it.
It works, but it did some restarts before windows was fully running.

This problem is even more strange, as it sometimes makes restarts, sometimes not.

Meaning PSU is braking, as it can't give the needed power to startup everytime. I'm pretty sure it will fix with new PSU..

I got the computer back. They also did some cleaning and updates there, i don't know much as dad didn't remember much. Anyway, they told that my PSU is kinda broken. I tried inserting CD also, then made restart, had problem with getting CD out, so the computer would stop making restarts, but got it out finally. It is working right now, but it probably still makes restarts on startup. My dad will take my current PSU with him on Monday and order new one, then i will replace it. Then my computer should be working fine.

Topic can be locked as problem is solved.
