Guide to Roleplay in Argonath,

It's my first guide and I find it helpful for new players to Argonath, it's not a general guide for RP, only in Argo. It contains How to roleplay, How to earn money with roleplay and How to have fun with roleplaying topics.

Chapter 1 : How to Roleplay

Roleplaying, in roleplaying you become an another person different or same of yours. It's a really big topic so I'm going to show you the basics only. The guide starts here and read carefully. Roleplaying in Argonath is different than others, playing D&D or WoW won't give the same experience because it is based real life. When you create a character and want to roleplay like a veteran first write your character's story before coming to Los Santos. After you write never forget the story or save the paper because you will roleplay using the story, you can't say my father is in New York now with your story saying "My father died when I was 9 in a gang war by a mistake shot bullet." . Most people doesn't write a story but you will see that most clans/gangs wants you to write your ingame story to apply. In roleplay you don't need scripts that limits you but you have to roleplay without crushing the rules.

Chapter 2 : Using /me

If you played in a roleplay server before you should know /me, if you don't let me explain. The /me command is your gate to roleplay, you won't be limited by scripts with this command. Look at this example, when you use /me command your text will show like this, command you use is lets say /me takes a can of soda out of his pocket and starts to drink it , it will show like *Chris_Redford (I used my name here) takes a can of soda out of his pocket and starts to drink it , but don't write /me drinks soda, it's not that veteran style roleplay. You don't spawn a soda can to your hand IRL, you buy it or take it out from somewhere to drink it. The /me command will help you to get money too, going to explain in the following chapters.

Chapter 3 : Terms of Roleplaying

The terms, you don't have to learn all so I'm going to show the ones you must learn. First ones are IC, OOC and RP; I think you got RP so lets find out what IC and OOC are... IC is in character which is roleplaying but OOC is out of character so it's the thing IRL. They are commonly used as chat terms.

Next ones are Metagaming and Powergaming; those are important too, metagaming is using OOC terms IC like when you see someone's name on the screen and calling him/her with the name shown, like "Chris_Redford : Hi Mike!", you can't say this if you never asked his name before, you should first ask his/her name. This is the most common mistake so I show it only, you will see more IG I think

The last ones are Deathmatching and Revengekilling; I don't think I should tell those because I think you can get the meaning from their names

Chapter 4 : Having fun

It's very easy if you don't RP for money, RP for fun, friendship and peace! (Hippy? ) I just joked, you won't see much peace because it's a city o' crime, huh? People try to gaing loads of money with scamming which is not allowed. Just wait for paydays which are rare so read next chapter!

Chapter 5 : Earning money

I think it's the chapter you want to read most and even you just scrolled when you saw the name in the start of the topic, if you did so please read the chapter above this.

Earning money, money is the king so you want to learn how, this chapter will reveal the secrets of earning money! Dut duruu dutututu duru tuuut! Yeah back to the topic, I can't list all jobs you can be so I'm going to give ideas because the jobs you can be are infinite, you can even be a hobo! The jobs that common and give money are mechanic, drug dealer, street shop and hitman. You can search if you want to find more info about the jobs. The mechanic is an easy job bringing money, you can check tires, patch them, check engine, fix a broken bolt etc. and all by /me, drug dealer is very common, you grow weed, find people to deal and get money, people doesn't roleplay it but you can! Street shop, those people sell shampoos, jewelery, cigs, food, drinks etc. it's a job that makes you very creative. And hitman, have you ever saw those contracts on OOC chat? Those are the aim of your job, to get them you can stay with /hit command in your chatbox when a contract comes fastly write the id and press enter, don't forget to put a space after /hit

Enough to say that this makes the guide go totally out of the real Argonath way of roleplaying...

I don't like this guide, for a number of reasons:

- It's not concentrated on teaching how to role-play in general; it shows how to play in YOUR style.
- The title is how to role-play on Argonath, while you're teaching all the foreign rules (ic/ooc, --gaming, ...) which are not supported.
- The /me example is a bit too complicated for a guide for totally new players.
- You keep using terms "expert", "professional". Only "professional" role-player would be a hired actor (in REAL life, not a role-played actor).
- Having a character story is completely unnecessary. It doesn't enhance role-play [read: action] in any way, it only extends your character you're playing.
- More, your guide suggests playing only one role. On Argonath you can play as many roles as you like, you can switch between them whenever you want.
- This guide in overall teaches what to do (exact actions), but little purpose why to do it.

-And roleplaying in Argonath includes all these terms too, I can't know if the reader played another server before.
-The roleplaying everyone talking about is game roleplaying.
-The /me command is the heart of the game, that's why it is too complicated.
-Having a character story is important for gangs/clans as it says in the guide, better to have it.

It's definitely not a general guide. It's very subjective and it contains a lot of rules not official to Argonath. And stating that you've "wasted" 11 years on role-playing games does not mean you're a good role-player by the Argonath style.

You're implying that players cannot change characters?

You CAN change characters on Argonath (and their names), but it should be marked that the in-game nick is not equal to the played character's name.

wRONg. These terms were "imported" by players that haven't got used to Argonath's style that differs from other RP servers.
Those terms are not supported on Argonath, and you should definitely not teach them if your guide is meant to teach the Argonath style.

"Professional" playing is playing for money. Playing Argonath is non-profit. You shouldn't use the term "professional roleplayer". Try using "veteran" or "old player" instead.

It's a simple text command. And your definition of it isn't really good...

Tharod, if Inferno 9 [i9] taught you about roleplay, we would have explained that IC and OOC are not supported universally throughout Argonath. Whilst you have every right to post a RP self-help guide, it will not be approved unless you have the consent of the Argonath leaders. If you wish to get it approved, contact a SA:MP leader through the Argonath website. Good luck.
