Nope I'm getting a 306 diesel and putting a tuned mechanical pump, Merc AMG injector headers and a competition clutch.. OH and a massive T25 Garett  :) At least that's the plan. We'll see how things unfold in the next couple of months as it's already fecking cold to be working outside so I may just stick to the 406 for now

How many HP will give to the engine?

Nice car, Todor.

Oh that's not my 306. I haven't even bought one yet. I'm still in the process of finding the correct one for me, may prove to be an HDI but in that case I won't be able to run it on veggie.

The lovely thing about the XUD  Bosch is that it can have a harder tune, plus run on piss, veg oil, soil, water etc - just about anything slippery really. I currently have a pump under my bed off our old 1.9 XUD 406 which was running around 130 bhp (from the stock 92) after some pump tuning, a custom fueling pin and a very slight overboost. It did over 90k miles like that in the space of a year.. without replacing anything.. on purified chip fat oil with 5 percent petrol in there as a solvent. What I'm aiming at though is around 160-170 bhp with a sharper degree on the fueling pin, a larger pump head perhaps but I will need an FMI if I am to push it that hard otherwise it will make clouds and clouds of smoke  I love the good old mechanical diesel - no ECU to faff about with, just pure magnificent grunt and economy. Here's an example of what I'm aiming to achieve although this one is slightly more powerful at 180 bhp and 320 lb/ft of torque:

Let me put it this way - if such a car is built it would be very slightly slower than my current 3.0 V6 powered 235bhp 406..

Well... I had a 306 silver, HDI and i didn't like it at all.

Just have a nice acceleration but at top speed not much, besides it wasn't moded but... it's not my type.

The HDI works in a totally different manner. The TD pump is not ECU controlled and can be adjusted easily while the HDI would require a remap but it's much simpler to anyone with the correct software. The 306 HDI comes with 90 BHP(Even at stock the older system has 93 and a much more level torque curve improving useability), of course you wouldn't like it. With the aid of an intercooler, air intake and exhaust mods and a remap it can do around 140-ish.

I quite like the mechanical nature of the good ol' XUD though, that rattle when cold in the morning and the fact that I can make it run on veggie oil, causing fellow students to chase me asking for some chips in the morning would be nice once again  Also with an intercooler, exhaust and intake mods and knowledge of how the mechanical system works (It really is a beautiful piece of machinery) you can manually adjust everything from fueling on idle to fueling on boost, boost levels etc.

Precisely! And it saves quite a lot of $$. Best part is the government gets NOWT in taxes. This was a huge issue around 10 or so years ago in France as at that time most French diesels could run on it and they used to stop people and check whether they actually had diesel in their tanks instead of cooking oil etc. as the government was losing millions.

Top Gear's own Jeremy Clarkson to voice a Satnav! I'm so buying that when it comes out!

Instead of "Make a U-turn where safe" "Perform a handbrake turn.. immediately"

Can anyone give me some info on the Audi A3? My parents could be purchasing one and the polo to be sent back home to use on holidays (it was a nightmare taking a bus etcc to places) Aude A3 looks amazing and sounds amazing too from other people driving past. But like are the parts expensive etcc if there is to be a breakdown etc? All help is appreciated.
