Well, Metal compilates some rock, but that doesnt mean that punk rock has something to do with it.

Here's the hierarchy of Rock and Metal:

Tier 1: Music
Tier 2: Rock
Tier 3 :Metal, Punk, Alternative Rock, etc...
Tier 4(Metal): Hair Metal, Nu Metal, Heavy Metal, Death Metal, etc...

Rock isn't metal, metal wouldn't have been around if it wasn't for rock.  If you didn't know about that, I recommend you either quit making shit up, or go learn some music-history.
