An Undercover cop will not react at every crime. If he see's a fight going on he may just call some other cops on the radio so he can retain his undercover status. If he see's you about to murder a suspect he might step in and /sb and arrest or shoot you. Undercover cops have the status to patrol around or go Under Deep Cover. Which I will not be explaining or no other ARPD unit will be explaining this is all I can give you. Undercover cops could be among you all day you will never know till they tell you. Just because I'm a sergeant doesn't mean that I am UC I might not have the rights. I go off duty and fuck around to.

the undercover cops does /sb and arrests you for it. that is because you are doing something illegal that is a rp and just because you get arrested and your weapons / narcotics are stole does not mean we did anything wrong now it seems you are just bashing undercover cops now. If i remember correct the scripts stops us from giving UC rights to freecops even if we would like to..

No actually, scripts would let us give Freecops UC.

Being an undercover cop

Introduction
  If you are reading this, and the glamorous world of working undercover has lured you in. Congratulations, you are on your way to being an awesome undercover cop, because reading this guide intro shows already you want to improve your skills and effectiveness of working undercover!

  "Undercover?" you say? "What the fuck is this?" you say? "Give me your fucking money!" you say?! Hold up a minute!!!
This guide is written for those who want to get straight into this exciting and dangerous role. This guide can be used by all cops who want to work undercover, with or without undercover (UC) rights.

WHAT?
  The fundamental skills of an undercover detective, undercover agent, undercover anything is deception. Using deception to gain access to information that would have been otherwise impossible for your uniformed counterpart to acquire.
  Undercover operatives provide access into the operations of the criminal underworld and are the first involved with pre-emptive crime fighting.

Some examples of UC work:
- Illegal Narcotics (Drugs): Confiscation, evidence gathering, prevention, capturing dealers and smugglers, information gathering & using informants.
- Illegal weapons dealing: Confiscation, information gathering (sources and contacts), evidence gathering, prevention.
- Intelligence gathering on criminal groups and families, infiltration and evidence gathering.
- Undercover crime reporting.
 
Some other work that can be carried out, but not done for reasons explained later:
- Tricking criminals for the hell of it, then locking them in LSPD garage whilst they get raped by freecops.
- Undercover patrolling (in PD cars) because it looks 'cool' when a fat mediocre clown is driving a pink PD car.
- Low level crime busting, arresting petty criminals.


WHY?
  Being undercover successfully can seriously cripple criminals and their associated organisation. UC cops can acquire shed loads of illegal drugs, weapons and cash. There is also the glory and pride you gain when you hand all this to your captain, and possibly a nice cash bonus for all your hard work.
  There is a downside of course. Following an operation you could be positively hated by a large group, and may have to regularly change your identity. The good UC cop never revealed his identity unless it is absolutely worth it. Word spreads quickly between those bastard criminals these days!


WHO?
  Anyone can be undercover. The most effective way is to have a small team, where the undercover operative is a civilian. The team must use a cb channel to communicate effectively. The same goes for those with UC rights.
  For each department (LSPD, SFPD, DPD) there are 2 UC badges. These can be given for long term (a few weeks), for those who consistently work well, or short term (a few hours/days) to those who are involved in operations. For one off operations, UC rights may be given provided a Lieutenant or Captain deems it necessary, but must be removed after an operation.


HOW?
  The big one...  if you are reading this so far, I hope to reward your effort with some tips and tricks that can improve your experience and effectiveness in being an undercover cop...

IMPORTANT NOTE:
When undercover, please alert a high ranked police, FBI or government member. This is so all departments can work together and are aware of any operations to avoid embarrassment.

Basic deception:
  
- Change your name! Unfortunately we do not have the RP calibre on the server for everyone to recognise your RP by your RP skill or skin alone. You cannot get free name changes for this.

- Wear appropriate skin and act the personality! You want to buy drugs. A guy in a suite does not buy drugs on street corners! Think what you look like. Your a bodyguard skin for example. Who are you guarding!? If undercover you must adopt a different persona and make it convincing.

- Working in teams. Back to the bodyguard example. A civilian wearing a suite wanting to buy lots of drugs. He has a civilian bodyguard. That is much more convincing than a bodyguard trying to order drugs on his own.

- For UC rights: Don't drive in PD cars. Who can drive in PD cars? Only cops! Do'h!

Advanced deception:
  All those with UC rights should use these techniques and understand why they are helpful. Those who don't have UC rights can take note as well.

- Check your weapons. Everyone knows all UC cops have deagle, baseball bat and pepper spray. Again, choose for appropriate skin. Gangsters have knives, tec9's etc. High level criminals who wear a suite tend to have smg, m4 more expensive weapons. Lose the pepper spray/ spraypaint. It is useful, but widely used by police.

- Know when to use UC rights. Only reveal your badge to end a BIG operation! You must consider that each time you show your badge, they might alert their friends and your cover is effectively as fucked as a criminal spending the night with 'Big Gay Al' in the cells at DPD.  This means do not join police in police chases or interfere with small crimes - it's not worth it!

- Know when to use police commands. "Quick get in, I help you escape" says the UC cop... who then proceeds to drive the criminal into LSPD carpark and lock him in. Very funny, but use at your own risk. Only cops can open police gates! Do'h!

- UC rights mean you will not be suspected for killing (whether criminal or not). Someone sees you kill and remain civilian... Do'h! Cover blown. Don't charge around chasing criminals when UC. Help them out. Who knows, could be better in the long run.

- Being suspected. Your undercover. To remain undercover, go to jail, sit on your bed, talk to Big Gay Al, reflect on your success. The less people who know your undercover, the more opportunities you will get. If you cannot go to jail for financial reasons try to explain to high ranks why you are suspected, and the reason you needed to get suspected. Request for cancelsuspect for 'Paid fine' etc, not 'UC cop'...

- Do not use police radio when undercover. You don't know who is listening. Which brings me on to the next thing:


The art of deception: If the criminals think you are not a cop, then you have learned the basics. If the cops think your a criminal, your getting somewhere. If you have SAPD chasing you like your a giant donut, and the FBI are practically humping your leg, then you are truly a successful undercover cop. Because then, and only then, does the door fully open and you are free to crush those who truly taint the law. - [Rstar]Jcstodds  


Performing a Sting/ Bust:
  This covers only busts that can be achieved within an hour, when you have nothing better do. UC rights are not recommended in such cases. This is because it is possible to perform a bust without the cover being blown on the UC guy.

Important notes on Sting/ Bust:
  These can only be lead by an UC cop or SAPD Sergeant and above. All confiscated weapons and drugs must be processed through the team leader and eventually destroyed. A report on each bust must be completed @ The SAPD Cases and Reports Board

The following method is for a drugs bust but can be used for weapons buying as well as selling.

- Gather a team on CB radio consisting of a civilian (Undercover guy) and a backup/ action team.
- The action team are cops who will respond for the crucial ending, who pounce on the dealers just after all of the drugs have been traded, ideally before the full amount of money is to be paid.
- Find a suitable area for the drug bust. A place that can be surrounded easily.
- Find a seller by ringing up various players/ suspicious players.
- If the dealer wants to choose the location go along with it if its worth it.
- Set up the action team at a reasonable distance from the bust so it is unlikely anyone will see them surrounding one point, and so they are not visible on radar driving up to the deal point.
- Buyer (UC cop) negotiates with dealer price. Buyer has money in briefcase ALWAYS so it can be retrieved. Ideally, buyer will want drugs first then pay. They will probably disagree. The compromise is this: Pay half money at beginning, half at the end. You should never have to pay the end half, because you call in the action team before you have to pay. Then if the dealer is a good RPer, you can take the briefcase off him containing the first half payment.
- UC surrenders to police (after he calls them in at the end), exclaiming and swearing, saying "How the fuck you know we here!?" etc to sound convincing. This way UC guy is not compromised. Go to jail, jailer sends money back. Maybe even some OOC comments.
- If dealer killed (from resisting): Take briefcase from body, pm criminal to send payment back.
- If dealer surrendered: Take briefcase from him with your half payment in. Take to station. Question where he got drugs from. Ask about other dealers he knows. Offer incentives (some of his cash back, or lowered jail sentence for info).
- Congratulations, you just earned yourself a donut. UC civilian can proceed to find more dealers, or go on duty as a cop and join his action team at the Kings' Ring.

NOTE for advanced: To achieve 'drugs first' you will most likely have to perform some small deals with the same person beforehand so they trust you. Also, you might want to question the UC cop about dealing also before jailing.
  
  Obviously there are many shortcuts can be found as there are many different styles of sting operation. Above is my method for when I'm bored.


Infiltrating groups:
  Multi accounts on forum is not allowed, so you must think about this a little. Is infiltrating a group good in the long run? Most of the time I think not. You can still get close to a gang without actually joining. It requires a lot of being a civilian and doing crimes.

The dividing line between good and evil:
  Remember, undercover work is a balance between working for the police and being recognised as a criminal. You could end up giving more work for SAPD than reward! So this is also something to think about when undergoing a large operation!

Undercover Rights:
  Each department has a maximum of 2 officer ranks(+) with UC rights. These rights are available for a maximum of 2 weeks. Asking for UC rights may severely decrease your chances of getting them, and pestering may result in suspension.

Rules of being undercover:

-  Any confiscated drugs cannot be used for civilian RP. It must be taken to a Captain to be destroyed.
-  Do not interfere with police work or join pursuits unless directly involved with the criminal.
-  If pursuing a suspect you must have your badge shown.
-  Under Cover cops are ALLOWED to be suspected if it is required to infiltrate further with reasoning.
-  UC cops are not completely exempt from law and will be punished if it is felt their actions had more loss than gain.
-  Civilian undercover cops cannot keep confiscated weapons or drugs. On duty UC cops must hand over drugs to Captain/ Lieutenants, but may keep confiscated weapons.

I am not bashing anyone... I am just saying a situation in an RP where everyone is assumed to be civillian then all of a sudden theres like backup on police radio, and then its all over. not much fun anymore, but oh well guess I got questions answered. I am not being as hostile as you are all pretending I am, but ok.

i just want to add another situatuion. Like all civillians are in a mansion interior house, the one with the big statue and having a silly RP about where its best to shoot someone to kill them or something. Everyone gets out weps and just shoots at the statue like one at a time and the undercover cops sus'd them all and runs away. I was in a situation really simmilar to that, but I guess its something thats allowed for them, right?

I understand that the purpose of an rp server to is try to keep things like close to what they would be irl (but we all know that doesnt happen to often lol).
also is there any way for me to just delete this? seems like everyones just getting all upset and angry and would rather just make it go away..

No. I once made a mistake which gave a freecop UC rights (I revoked them afterwards), so it is possible.

Yet the FBI can only trick new, inexperienced players who don't know about UC rights. Most people can tell when the guy is an undercover FBI agent because they always have armour and a suit skin. That's why Jay and I have been able to parade around, pulling people over as the FBI and then extorting them for $5000.
