Heyhey, so last year when I ran GTA:IV (Original bought), I tried to play it and when I did, it lagged like hell, while everything was on low settings. My specs are practically fine (I guess) for GTA IV, so I'm willing to re-install it again to try, if someone could explain here on how to fix the big fat lag!

My specs:

CPU
Minimum: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8GHz, AMD Athlon X2 64 2.4GHz
You Have: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.00GHz
   PASS

CPU Speed
Minimum: 1.8 GHz
You Have: 2.99 GHz Performance Rated at: 3.588 GHz

(Source: Can you Run It, on the medium)

HOWEVER! When I press Recommended it says:

CPU

do you have programs running in the back ?? if yes, shut everything down, and run the game, would be better if you use Game Booster, shuts down everything for you.

EDIT : Can You Run It, is not so accurate, it only says if you can RUN the game, it doesn't say how it will run ...

EX:
Can You Run IT : You can run the game
You turn on the game :
OMG Im up to 1 FPS !! w00t !!

Install patch 1.0.7.0 and put all settings on low, especially the water quality.
Even my old 8800GT beats 9600 and I'm able to run on around 50FPS.

Depends on Resolution Icy :P What do you use?

Well Nitrox, your CPU is not that good.. Try lowering all... Resolution, + graphics to low.. and plus apply the 7th patch which makes game run better than before!

Best is actually to put the resolution to top and settings to the lowest, will actually work the best for a 'bad' computer ;)

It's very easy. You should see it as a puzzle. Attach every part. Make sure you concentrate. Connect every loose cable and try if it works. Although, Watch out for ESD ( electro static discharge ). That can kill your new videocard in less than a second. ;)

/\ Do that, but I've got water quality set on highest, it doesn't really affect my performance at all. Turn the shadows off, that tends to improve my performance drastically.
