For the most updated topic:
http://arpd.argonathrpg.com/forum/index.php?topic=12861.0 I am posting this poll before I suggest it in the appropriate topic (In the ARPD forum) to get some feedback.
I am in support, and will list the positives and negatives that I can think of. Any comments may also be added.
The actual law I propose:
Drivers should maintain a speed which is appropriate and safe in the immediate area. This means that cops will have to use common sense, but should work out better for everyone. If no cars about, speeding is not a problem. If They are speeding, on right side of road, slowing for corners and busy intersections and not destroying the streets, there is no problem.
If their speed is causing them to drive recklessly, then it becomes reckless driving.
Positive - Less players get /su for speeding without previous warning or attempt to pull over.
- Less cop deaths by civilians threatened by their /su
- Less "help abuse" cries on main chat for admins to be distracted with
- Driving slow is boring and monotonous unless there is a real purpose.
- Players who want a car chase can still do that, players who are trying to get somewhere quickly should be able to without cops /su ing them.
- Stops players going to jail or getting killed for going a little fast.
Negative - Still be moan no doubt when cops su for speeding at first
- Cops could believe that speeding = "reckless driving" and still not use common sense, so no difference is made.
Depending on feedback I may request a trial for this law.
