Can someone explain, with examples, what this "IC/OOC" is? Cause really I do not understand.

Yes, I know IC is in character, and OOC is out of character. Which is kinda obvious as this is a roleplay game played by people... but I dunno why there is such a fuss over it.

I cannot identify any group in Argonath quite like Stracci and 424 Blocc. The level of IC/OOC integration in both groups heavily outweighs the Argonath vision of RP. Nitrox and Seskom are both long term veterans, ambassadors of IC/OOC and moderators of this community. Bearing this in mind, it would be interesting to understand why they use IC/OOC to the same standard as L*R*. Hopefully, through their participation, we will be able to answer Jcstodd's question in full and for those who don't understand the concept altogether.

Two weeks ago, two fine mates came to IV:MP server. They were unusual at the first sight as they managed to register and login without asking administrators why are they frozen or started yelling at us, "LET ME PLAY!!".
They immediately said Hi and started to play. These two complete strangers, started doing small RPs of rescue, including more and more members. I was happy to see that whenever there was a chat silence, they would propose a new RP. it was quite fun.

Guess what. They come from LS-*P, and they used brackets while we were RPing. While I was RPing with them I also used brackets.
When they asked me how to send a message OOCly here, I said that Argonath does not resemble IC/OOC and powergame/metagame techniques and they should use it at their own risk.


Another very interesting point is that they didn't use brackets with other new comers who just found out about /l(ocal) command.
Tells a lot about the person's RP style, don't you think?

Well, for me... Each person deserve to have his own way to roleplay.. I mean, some people laugh at others cause thay are the same-way thinking people, but they don't laugh at others who have a creative style or have their very very own roleplay way..

I mean seriously, why do you care of the other part is using some characters in his way to roleplay? It's his own choice.. Let's not forget that Argonath is a server which allows players do whatever they want, and does not have 100000000 rules.. (Of course when I saw what they want, I mean WITHIN the already low-amount exist rules.)

I personally do not care for who uses brackets or not, if I meet a person who does use them, I may do it too, because that's the way they will understand you the most, let's just call it their "bracket language".. if I can say that.

I don't really look for who RPs the best.. or "SRS" but who is creative and has his own style... that one I will admire, Examples; Jcstodds, Frank Hawk, Jimmy Cuneo, Justin Djay, Trane.. Uninhibited and many many others.

Using brackets is someone's personal opinion, you can't force him to stop. People say that old veterans have left, and that place is changing, Oh really? Only thing that is changing is people that fail to understand some simple things and argue on EVERY single thing.. like in this time, They argue with players who have their very own way to roleplay. Those who use the "brackets language". (As I mentioned before.)

On Argonath flaming is simple forbidden. Regardless if you do it IC or OOC. Same rules go for all, and it does not matter in which chat you type it.

If everything is to be taken offence whether it's your hollywood gangster character or the actual you equipped with a headset, one hand on the balls and the other on the keyboard - wouldn't it be more offensive to shoot someone than actually saying "f**k you" ?

We are playing a game and I think we all understand that what goes around inside the game comes around inside the game. There's obviously limits when things such as e-bull etc comes in the window.
The characters themselves ingame even flame/insult.
